It's still a work in progress, of course.
I've attached some (random) screenshots from my early playtests.
(The first two are from the "Chosin 1950" scenario)

... aaaand I can't play because the bottom of the user interface and map are cut off. Tried to change resolution, but it did not help. Any thoughts why that might be happening? Running Version 8.4.4 of OoB on a pretty old rig....

Try deleting the \Settings folder of the mod and run it again.

Gabe

I've added "Chesty" to the avatars/commanders. Good find

BTW, can you add frames to the campaign image for "89 Tank Bn'?
If you think they look odd, just let the image as is.

Way to go. Graphics can be adjusted, eventually lowering specs and features. It's playable, but evidently out of proportions, starting from UN resources, lack of proper contemporaneous units and tactic placement uf units in the field. But it's a great idea indeed. Keep up, man!

You may not have this commander yet
It may be useful... :?:

I don't get this post...
What do you mean by:
'eventually lowering specs and features'
'but evidently out of proportions'
'lack of proper contemporaneous units and tactic placement uf units in the field'

We do have a few commanders ready in the next version, but suggestions is of course very welcome.
Jabara is added to the list.
BTW, this mod will be stripped of all current WW2 commanders unless they participated in the Korean war.

Dear Erik, I apologize for the misunderstanding I provoked. I'll try to explain:
1) In order to make it visible, the player should lower specifications in options menu, lowering rendering quality, and other specifications foud in the mentioned tav. I did this because I had the same problem at the start.
2) Out of proportions refers to the differences between UN forces x Chinese in the scenario. UN is very weak and without enough resources to face the overwhelming numbers of Chinese infantry. Moreover, both the Chinese and UN factions lack contemporaneous units in the field, especially air units which, at that time, were composed by may jet fighters and helicopters. Also, the lack of armor among the Chinese side seems unrealistic to me.
3) Tactic placement refers mainly to UN artillery units, too close to de frontline, and very vulnerable to enemy attacks.
Those are my very first impressions but it does not mean I did not like the initiative, of course, I've just tried to contribute to its development.
Sorry again for any discomfort may words may cause.

1) Both Gabe and I use 4k monitors, so the mod included setting up the monitor for 4k. Easily fixed as Gabe explained in another post.

2) The Chosin Reservoir battle was a near disaster for the US (and South Korean) forces. Check it out on wikipedia, it is an interesting read.
The scenario itself is actually not that difficult to win. I managed a major victory with 2 turns left. Follow the advice in the briefing...

The Korean war was very much a continuation of WW2 equipment-wise. Sherman, Chaffe, Pershing and T34/85 tanks, F51 Mustang and F4u Corsair fighters, 105mm M2A1 and M12 155mm art etc. You get the drift. Of course, jets and helicopters eventually replaced the propellers.

This scenario was based on Wild Bill Wilder's scenario for TOAW. Wilder has decades of experience desgning scenarios for a number of game systems. I've always found his research spot-on. So, in this particular conflict, no Chinese armor. Mainly because the Chinese troops moved at night over mountains into their attack positions.

3)The Allies were caught by total surprise, several of their artillery positions wre over-run. The Chinese picked the Marines as their primary target, beating them was considered a glorious victory.

Give the scenario a test-drive, my friend

Edit: Battalion units are core and full-strength. Company units (armor, art and eng) are non-core and 5-strength.

Most of them arent included in OoB yet ! How you produce scenarios without all this units ?
Really? I'd rather say that most vehicles and arty from that list are already included in the game.

Well, I'll do my homework about this battle. For starter, here's a better reference about Chosin Reservoir, and a slightly different account of the events:

Yes, much familiar stuff there. But it is a nice list.
Now, I'm not saying that all of the Korean war will be covered in this mod. The latter part of the war will probably have battles that includes a number of new equipment not available yet. We'll see how it goes.

You inherited Gabe's and mine 4k-settings in the mod. Deleting the Settings folder is a general fix for certain issues.
We'll remove the settings folder from the mod for the next update.

Here's a vivid account of Chosin battle and subsequent retreat. Despite the audio boasts, the images are very illuminating about the perils and losses suffered by UN forces on this theater of operations. Could be a good roadmap for a couple interesting scenarios in this campaign.
