Sorry you are having problems. The disk version comes with all patches so you do not need to apply anything.
Can you walk me through what exactly you did. When you installed the game did this go ok? Once it was installed what did you do exactly? How did you start the game? What exactly did you see?

attempted to start the game by double clicking the desktop icon in the usual way - no result seen
attempted to start the game by clicking on startup menu item with the same result
the game was installed to default directory and the system was restarted in between attempts
latest version of java installed both methods reattempted same result

Can you PM me your serial number so we can check it out.
When you navigate to the folder the game is installed to what do you see?
Have you applied any patches to it? It should not be possible but if you did it coudl be causing problems.
If you navigate to the MyDocs folder do you see a CEAW folder?

Serial looks fine. Can you try right clicking on the desktop icon and saying "Run as Administrator" and see if this helps.

Delete everything, including the MyDoc, and try a fresh reinstall with your AV software disabled, I have a nasty feeling the AV is blocking the exe.

You don't have read only folders do you? The game tries to write out some ini file data when it runs and maybe this is the issue?
The only thing I can think of right now is to try uninstalling & reinstalling. It's very odd that nothing happens when you run the game.

The most likely is that you have some conflicting software on your machine. I would not ask you to reformat your hard drive, but if you are able to install the game on a fresh machine game works.
Can you tell us more what software you have installed on your machine, any security or emulation software?

Can you try setting your desktop resolution to 1024x768 and see if this helps? Someone else had a similar problem and this fixed it. If that is the issue we'll try and find out what is causing it.
