BUG? Units Evaporate

During combat, a friendly Unit suffers casualties, but is left with one point. However, after all Combat is resolved, the Unit disappears.

This has happened a couple of times. Once, some Grenadiers fought off two Units of Russian Regulars, and a Tank Unit, and was left with a Strength of 1. It was awarded a Trait: Survivor, and was seen retreating into a Marsh. It was never seen again. It simply disappeared.

What could have happened?

Attacked by a different unit? A plane perhaps?

The 'Survivor' trait might have had something to do with it, what exactly are the benefits of the trait supposed to be anyway?

Is that not the trait which means that a unit can not die in an attacknunless it was already at 1 strength first?

That is correct. In this case, when the Unit was reduced to 1, it gained the Trait. I was watching and didn't see it bombed afterwards, but it might have happened quickly.

"Casualty-Assessment-Reporting":

I would like to have 'some-kind' of recording apparatus in this Game... to record the severity of inflicted casualties of the specific units involved...as well as also those units who were outright-killed and as well... also... at what location on the Map they met their demise... during your past turn!.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While were at it!... how about also including a tally or 'Record' of the amount of 'Enemy-Units' that your forces have destroyed in the current scenario... as well as maintain a running total of dispatched 'Enemy-Forces' through-out your Campaign.

I have experienced this 2-3 times as well. At the time, I chalked it up to being new to PG/PC/PC2 and maybe not being aware of all the games rules and mechanics. In all instances the unit earned the Survivor trait and was left with a strength of 1, and then died (?) at the end of the AI turn.

I wonder if it could be the result of some kind of rounding situation, i.e. it was actually on .8 strength (which rounds up to 1 for the Survivor trait) and at the end of the turn since it was really at less than 1 the game removed it.

Sounds strange, but the closest I've come to disappearing units are cases where units have surrendered after a battle while the camera has moved on to a different battle, thus not displaying the surrender. I suppose that could make it look as if the unit disappeared on its own.

Just a thought, but maybe disappeared units go into an abstract "holding area" or "reserve pool" or something from where they can be redeployed onto the map?
