Macedonian phalanx?

I’m playing as macedon... are phalanxes in the game? How can I unlock them?

I take it you're playing the DLC campaign. In the original campaign, all of Alexander's successor states start with access to them. Not sure about getting them in the DLC scenario, though.

The pike phalanx was developed in the reign of Phillip II of Macedon, some time between 358 and 338 BC.

Yes, I know. I just wanted to know how to make them appear in the videogame since I guess I won't be getting Phillip II.
So I must be an empire to develop the macedonian phalanx?
May I know where can I mod that? I don't know if it's even possible but I would tie it to a decision whenever you get good military ruler. I mean, Macedon was not an empire when Phillip started using the phalanx, they became one because of the military reform.

You can add a function in \Scenarios\d310BCGrandCampaign\DATA\SCRIPTS\Events_Plugin.BSF
which will check for the presence of some modifiers on the ruler of Macedon, and then add the (pike) phalanx to Macedon force pool. For further details and interests, please post in the modding forum!

Would it be a nice historical touch to give Macedon the opportunity to develop the Pike phalanx first before other hellenic factions? if this is the case already please forgive my abject ignorance.

Whichever hellenic nation reach CL3 first will get the phalanxes first. In fact, leaving to AI, this will very likely be Macedonia (a human player in say Athens very likely might make it before Macedonia though if focusing on it).

I played Etruscii to a 3rd place victory in the Persia DLC on experienced, and I was able to raise Phalanx units half way through the game, I wish I could remember what triggered the ability, but I deleted all of the saved games.

You progressed to CL3, meaning you had at least 20 regions and were a glorious republic with 5 tokens.
