Sight Radius?

Trying to wrap my head around how unit vision works. On page 26 of the manual there is reference to a "Sight Radius" icon. I don't recall seeing this on any unit, ever. I do always see the armour, hitpoints, morale, actions and experience level icons but never this mysterious sight radius icon. Was this sight radius icon reworked and removed in an earlier patch perhaps? (I only recently started playing.)
Can anybody shed some light on how unit vision works in this game or point me to a reference that explains this mechanic in detail?

Hello, so in answer to your question, I haven't checked in game yet.
But after different games, I found myself up against units that I could see in a forest for example, but which I couldn't shoot at because there was another forest in between.
Ennemy (in a forest case) - Forest case - My unit
I can see it but i can shoot it
All buildings, or special grounds (Forest, cities,...) affect the line of sight of the units.
Example a recon unit (SM or orc motorbikes) will have a radius of vision of 3 squares around them, but if there is a forest (which has a -1 modifier) the square will remain in the fog of war if the unit is too far away.
I don't know if I'm understandable, it's a rather precise and complex subject, English is not my first language and I don't have the game in front of me to check.
BUT I'm available to discuss on it and don't hesitate to tell me if you understood certain points.

Thank you for the reply, RsRaiders. You are understandable and after some more game time under my belt I'm getting a little more familiar with how sighting works. That said, I still have yet to see spot this mysterious and elusive "Sight Radius" icon which the manual makes reference to.
