Funny story (to me, at least).

As I am working on the latest campaign, I start noticing that the location labels are not showing up in the editor. They are supposed to show in the editor, once confirmed by a flag. No names!

First thought: This is an old campaign that I am upgrading. Perhaps when the scenarios were first saved, it was in a version that is now incompatible with 8.x for this purpose.

Then I reloaded Continuation War 1941; same situation. Out went that thought.

What the heck? Now what's wrong?

Reloaded 8.3.0. No change.

Patched up to 8.4.4. No change. (I did notice some graphic improvements from 8.4.1, however).

Okay, time for the nuclear option. Complete uninstall, including that strange C:\Users\Bruce\AppData\LocalLow\The Artistocrats folder and most importantly, as it turned out, the Settings folder in My Documents.

Reinstalled version 7.1.4. Location names appear, hurray! Patched up to 8.3.0, locations names still there. Hurray again!

[Shrugs.] Chalk it up to program weirdness. Back to business.

Except I notice everything is back to default in Settings. Okay, no problem. Let's get those back to where they were.

Which is when I had the latest in a long string of "D'oh" moments in my life. I had forgotten about this particular setting:

At some point, I must have turned this off without realizing it. D'oh!

Alright, so it's not funny. Let this thread fall to the depths quickly! I just found it ironic that, after 4 years of dabbling with this game, I still overlook (or forget) obvious things at times. It's like the not seeing the forest for the trees thing. Or, more accurately, not seeing the trees for the forest. :)

That is extremely common. And the reason why editors and testers are useful, not only here but in most human activities. No problem, it just proves that you're fallible as everyone else. Keep up your marvelous work!

Yeah, come on, happens to the best of us... 8)

And personally I'm always feeling rather like this after such episodes:
