I am having problems with patch updates on Vista - during updater says ' the directory selected does not contain the target application'
Any ideas how to point it in the right direction?

It sounds like you are installing the wrong patch - if you bought your version from Slitherine you need the Slitherine patch. If you bought from Matrix you need the Matrix patch.
We do have a zip in testing that works in both versions but thats because it is not an installer, just a zip file.

The file installed by default to Program files / slitherine / Military History Commander - Europe at War GOLD
So I assume I must need the Slitherine patch..
I have also tried the Matrix patch - same problem

Ah I see - there are no patches for MH CEAW - it comes with them already applied.

OK Thanks for that...
Now something else - When the game start and screen shows 'game loading' - it freezes and gets no further?

Can you post your system specs. Have you got the latest drivers for your graphics card?

Are you running any heavy applications on your PC at the moment that use a lot of RAM?
Another thing, in the "Documents" on your PC try delete the CEAW and CEAW Fast Play folders then restart game, just to be sure nothing has messed up.

I have deleted the CEAW folder from Documents - no other applications are running.

try delete te folder in "Docuements" again and rerun. This time pick "LOW" in the graphics quality setup. Not saying you should run it like that but just now for testing purpose. If LOW works but not HIGH then you have some kind of memory problems on your machine.

No luck with that either - have just tried Low Res & Hi res on both Fast Play & Standard. It still gets to the same popin where the 'Game Loading' bit is flashing on and off and gets no further.

What is your monitors native resolution?
How long have you waited for it to load - it may take a couple of minutes to load the first time because it has to generate data which makes it fater for future loading. Try lettign it run its course before you close it down.
Another option is to try reinstalling in case something did not set up cleanly.
Johan - where is the log file that the game generates located. This might contain useful info?

There may be an error.log text file in the folder where you installed the game. Could you post that one on forum?
