My normal temple gives 48 culture with all bonuses, but major temple gives zero with all resources? bug or feature?

The major temple is not yet built, so what you see is the change compared to the normal temple.

I see this kind of thing occurring quite a lot in the game - displaying the modified value instead of the base. It can get super-confusing (above being one example), not the least of which because this approach pre-supposes that you know what the base value was. Would it not be better to show the adjusted value in parentheses, not just in the build screen but everywhere?

+1 (where is the agree button?)

I'm going to disagree in this situation. You already have a Temple. You can't build a Major Temple without one. When you build the Major Temple, the regular Temple will disappear. Therefore the information shown by the screen is the most relevant information: if you build the Major Temple, your Culture will not change (0), your Money will go up by 39, your Infrastructure output will do down by -2. That's the full impact of building versus not building this infrastructure.

Adding the other data you've suggested would clutter the screen without adding any information relevant to the build/don't build decision. If you really want to know how much Culture your existing Temple is generating, you can simply click on it's icon from the same screen, and then go back.

I gotta agree with travling_canuck. Trying to show on-screen the history of how you got to your current infrastructure/money/culture/trade range/etc. doesn't seem helpful to the decision at hand. Should paved roads have two parentheses - one for public works and one for regional roads?

I've stumbled over this, too. Maybe it should be more obvious that this is an upgrade to an existing building and the numbers show the difference to the current status.

So are the figures shown the incremental amount the building will generate for you (you will continue to generate what you got from the temple plus what you receive from the new major temple) or does one only receive what one gets from the major temple? I thought it was the latter based on reading the guide.

As I understand it, the displayed numbers are always the change from the build decision (at the current time and location with the current trade goods, resources, etc.). That is why they change - especially the money.

I agree with travling_canuck statement.
If I had to add anything to the description it would simply be a line telling the player something like "Will replace temple" ( you can already see this in the right part of the screen though)
