What is extra fatigue margin?

Hi there,

I'm confused and I don't find anything in the manual nor the game. All skirmisher units have the "skirmisher" ability. They can be skirmishers, good skirmishers and superior skirmirshers, getting an extra fatigue margin of 2, 3, 5 respectively against their enemies...

But what does "Extra fatigue margin of X against an enemy" stand for? At first I thought it was their skirmishing quality, but I guess that would be the ranged attack damage?

It means that they'll still inflict a point of Effectiveness damage on the opposing unit in duels when they lose the duel, provided they lose by within the indicated margin.

So what's up with this? I know you will make effecteveness damage but doesn't it also protect you from damage? I had this fight where I lost by 5 but my unit only took damage for 2 and it had skirmish for 3... But it doesnt look like it works like this every time.

Units can evade damage when losing a duel if their movement speed is higher than the opponent's. This is separate from the extra fatigue margin. I think it's 1 damage negated per 2 points of speed difference or something like that, not sure about the exact formula.
