Using 25mm/28mm miniatures has its problems.

I use Dungeons and Dragons Miniatures, which come prepainted, on 25mm bases.

As the frontage for 4 HF in 25mm scale is only 60mm, we clearly have a problem.

Our solution is to use bases 5" x 1.5 " .

In fact we use 5" x 3" and place the minis on them 2 deep.
We find it works okay as most troops fight 2 deep anyway.

As the frontage has now doubled, in order for the wheeling circles to work as normal, we use a 2" to the MU.

This actually looks right for 25mm/28mm,not just the movement but the bow ranges as well, but means we need much bigger tables.

Which also actually looks quite good. :)

Anyone tried other options with 25/28mm ?

Anyone using warhammer miniatures ?

I have been using 50mmx50mm bases for my 25/28mm fantasy figures. Part of the reason I do this is that the club I belong to has a lot of old 25mm armies based on 2"x4" (50mmx100mm) bases.

Interesting....so are you mounting four minis on a 50mm x 50mm base ?

Then fielding two bases as two deep bases.

When you use larger minis, ogres etc, do they count as more troops.

Or have you any alternative ideas ?

Each base counts as only one base even though they are deeper than normal.

We play with Warhammer miniatures, 2 miniatures are a base.
Charriot, monster and warmachine 1 miniat. = 1 base.

Hi Matteo,

Wecome to the boards . :)

What armies are you using ?

Do you use 2 infantry to a base for LF, MF and HF ?

We are using 2 miniature for a base, doesn't matter the kind of base, always 2 miniature.

The 1th match was Higt elfes vs skaven but we prepared all warhammer army list and we are goint to test wood elfes and empire next

We have a player ( Skaven army) who is interested in playing FoG at our club.

I would be interested to know the Skaven army list .

To see how you classified the trooptypes.

Any chance of posting it here ?

Hi Stork,
we found that a lot of the miniatures were on 25mm bases , so it would not work for HF.

We also double the measurement, 2" to a MU, and in order to get the wheeling to work the same we doubled the frontage. 120mm or about 5".

:) It looks quite good. :)

Have you seen the battle report i posted ?

Having now played over a dozen games with the big bases (5" frontage), we are looking at changing to smaller bases.

A 3" frontage would allow 3 figs for HF or 2 for MF/LF.

And 2 horsemen look okay on a 3" frontage also.

A 700 point army goes from table edge to edge, with no room to manouever. Not a good thing. :(

It does look nice but tactically its a bit too constrictive.

So i am now about to bite the bullet and cut down all my bases. :?

What i want to be able to do is play against all the guys at my club, no matter what figures they are using.

Whether its WFB/ LotR/ D&D Minis/ Ancient armies, i want all the miniature armies to be compatible.

So if anyone was to turn up with even an Arcane Legions/ Hordes/Mage Knight or Armies of Arcana army they are all able to be used.
