Scenario flags

So I noticed during the Crete scenario that capturing flags didn't give me any prestige (except VH)

Am seeing the same now in Fall Weiss.

Is there any reason to capture those hexes? (other than if that's where I want a unit to end up)

From a scenario design point of view - what does adding those flags do? Would it not have been simpler to have just left them out?

They exist mostly to indicate ownership in a historical scenario, because obviously those settlements were not neutral, but belonged to one of the sides, and leaving them all without flags would look strange. As for gameplay benefits, they spot the map for their owner, but other than that, there is not much direct reward if both prestige and prestige per turn are zero.

That's actually fairly true - the map would look odd without all those flags - Sadly just like Moths to a flame I can't stop myself from taking them despite no benefit

Big thumbs up on the scenarios - something different in each one (though I'd like to meet the sadist who decided the Soviets would leave all their trucks at home for Prague :? )

Well, you get extra spotting for yourself and deny it to your opponent at the same time. :!: The importance of battlefield intelligence cannot be underestimated. ;) I think you should not feel bad because you capture all those points.

Thanks, and yes, when you try to offer something different in each scenario, sometimes it results in "odd" designs which some people don't like or even hate. Prague was done by Kresimir, the same guy who did the main campaign, so definitely this is not how he thinks all scenarios must be designed. :)
