Master of Blitzkrieg trait

Well, I tried this on a new campaign and don't really care for it. It says it "reduces" cost for crossing minor rivers, but it seems to totally eliminate it instead. I expected to be able to cross, but not go through it like it wasn't even there-- seems very unfair. Oh well, easy enough to restart.

It does pretty much exactly that -- it lowers the cost of crossing minor rivers to 3 movement points for tanks. As most German tanks have a movement of 6 with Master of Blitzkrieg they can cross a minor river and still move 3 hexes.

I took it for the +1 move for my Panzers. I never actually really checked but my feeling is that it costs 3 to move onto a river rather than all your move.

In my opinion the ability to cross rivers is really the main perk to this trait choice. But I can agree it's maybe a little OP. Though there is one minor downside. You het your panzer(s) over then remember that nothing else can cross and it/they are left a little unsupported!

It's cute to be able to cross minor rivers, but it's hardly the best trait out there.

(in the beta it allowed you to cross major rivers too - that was OP)

Being able to cross rivers completely changes my game style and is one of the ones I choose first each time, not because it is the best (powerful) but because it makes the game much more about mobile warfare which I enjoy.

Especially on higher difficulty crossing rivers without support can be dangerous to tanks. Useful, but have to be careful.

Agreed and sometimes I get caught out but usually the gains reaped by being able to jump rivers outweighs the losses.

I only tried it through the second scenario (I think), and it didn't appear to cost *any* extra points. I was was 3-4 hexes away from a river, went over it and a couple more hexes on the other side. Just too much for me. Might as well play with no terrain if there is no penalty at all. Or, maybe they are Hover-Panzers! :D

Edit: Huh-- I take it allll back. Started over again and now it does indeed take the extra points to cross. Damned if I know why I had hover tanks for awhile. I'm gonna say solar flares...yea, that's it!

The 90s hard Sci-fi rpg 2300AD had hover tanks.

They were really fast and ignored a lot of terrain.

Now I want a scifi version of this game

I believe Flashback Games made Armageddon, so they have experience with fictional sci-fi settings (and being a 40K Epic fan I was probably one of the dozen or so who actually liked the game, even if the balance was terrible at times). An Epic game based on the PzC2 Unreal platform would be incredible, but sadly unlikely to ever happen as I believe Armageddon wasn't much of a financial success.

As someone whose favourite SSI games remain Fantasy General, Sword of Aragon and Rites of War, I'm all for it, though
