Generals in multiple BG fights

I have always assumed that in multiple BG fights the General can only effect one combat but my opponent thought applied to the whole BG across different combats.

E.G.
The general is fighting in the front rank of BG "A" which is fighting to its front BGs "B and C" . So does the general's reroll benefit apply to the whole of his BG? Or does the player have decide which enemy BG either B or C the general is fighting against and his reroll benefit only applies to the combat against that enemy BG?

The whole BG gets the reroll. against all oponents. :)

I agree with the above A can use the reroll against both enemies B and C.

Now B and C, if they have a general, can only use the reroll for themselves, whichever unit he is with B or C not both.

Not sure if that was also your question but... what the hey.

Yes, every base in the BG gets the reroll benefit for close combat rolls and impact support shooting from rear ranks. BGs with 8 get a lot of rerolls, bases with 12 bases get more.
