Parachuting seems to select the hex randomly...bug or design?

When you get offered all the hexes to deploy your paras to, and you select one, the game often puts the paratroopers into a different hex! Is this correct, is the hex supposed to be a random one of those offered, or is this is UI issue? Currently I'm just undoing it until they go into the hex I want them to but I can't work out if this is by design or not...
Please advise.

Why don't you just walk them to the intended tile? They do have movement points after dropping on the ground.
In the classic PG series, I think that the drop off tile was also random (and no option to move afterwards).

It's historically accurate because paras often missed their drop zone because of wind drift or whatever, and many wargames including PC2 are modelling that.

By design.
The chance of paras ever landing where they were supposed to was small. This goes someway to suggest that. You probably shouldn't get a choice other than where you want to start the drop, rather than a preferred hex but this is a reasonable compromise. Not as extreme a deviation as D-Day or Crete, not as perfect(ish)as Arhnem.

Thanks for confirming. I thought I was misclicking the hex lol.

This is exactly the same mechanic from Panzer General.
Probably simulating that wind and navigational problems cause them to land off the designated point.
You are actually better off than in PG, in here you can still move in your turn to make up for the drop error - in PG you were sitting in mud with your pants down if you missed the drop.
