Asking for advice (CDR controll)

Hi. I'm green to this game, had a couple of unfinished campaigns around 100 turns(not finished) so far.

Now I'm playing Carthage. I became Glorious state quite fast(within 2 or 3 turns) and remianed so far.

I expanded relatively fast I guess, whenever north african neighbors give me some trouble, I answer them by total way, full annexation. But Sycaruse is an execption since I want keep it as buffer against Rome as long as possible, and it accepted peace reasonably early.

Anyway, now I have, paractically no enemy at the moment, but decadance is out of my hand. I'm already put my pops on culture, provinces have my own culture, but that's not enough.
Actually I feel very lucky I'm still in glorious state, not old. I should had been in old state far before, but somehow my Carthage sticks to glorious state quite long time.

What should I focus right now, to improve my CDR?

Maybe will it be easier if I just accept old state and rebuild my state from ashes.

Welcome Conyekir!

When you conquer a region, you get its accumulated decadence in addition to its riches. Go through each region's structures and get rid of the ones that produce decadence. The AI builds things I would never bother with. Purging these buildings may lower loyalty, so keep an eye on that. You'll eventually get much better buildings to replace them. The CDR is an average of your last 20 turns or so. So keep pumping out culture and the numerator will outgrow the denominator.

I did a Carthage campaign AAR that you can check out here:

It still has some saved games you can DL, if you want to give me advice. Good luck!

Thank you. It seems that controlling CDR in early phase is vital which I carelessly disregarded.

And it looks like becoming a young empire remove all government age decadance at once. Interesting.
