Which game is more complex: Order of Battle or Panzer Corps? (I realize that both are "beer and pretzels" games, but I just wondered which had more depth and realism.)

Panzer Corps 2. (Is Panzer Corps 1 significantly less complex and Panzer Corps 2?)

Let me put the question differently: Which is the most complex? Order of Battle, PC2, or PC1?

Which is the least complex?

I think that you can test the first scenario of each DLC.
For example, the last DLC (Red Steel) released yesterday that I haven’t installed yet, I can test the first scenario:

So, Order of Battle is more complex than PC1 or PC2 and has more depth and realism?

I'd say it's more complex than PzC1.

For PzC2, it depends on what specific field you look at, but overall, at this point I dare to say OOB is more complex.

That may be some bias on my side, and on the PzC2 forum ppl may see it differently, but right now OOB simply is out way longer, and has grown in content and features quite a lot over time. Otoh PzC2 is rather new and may see lotsa further content still coming.

PzC1 is definitely overwhelmed by the other two. It also has some ridiculous ideas (field artillery seriously damaging battle cruisers, etc.). PzC2 I've just started playing and stopped after seeing once you capture an airfield, the planes based there "die." Hmm. Don't understand that at all. For the first time PzC2 has supply, whereas OOB has had it from the start. There are many things I like about the Panzer Corps engine, having said all this. I don't like the "prestige" idea, but I do think the awards and experience added to units (+1 movement or +1 defense) are cool (though probably too "RPG" for most here) and would like to see something like this in OOB. The way the core army carries over is in my opinion a lot better than OOB from campaign to campaign. The leaders in OOB are a big plus. Don't know that what I wrote addresses complexity, as such, but on the whole I think OOB is more realistic and hence more complex as a wargame, with the caveat that I haven't really given PzC2 a fair run yet.

I think if an airfield is captured, any landed aircraft dying makes sense, but if you mean all aircraft based there, regardless of whether they are in flight or not, that’s just foolish. Strange to me how that would make any sense whatsoever.

Regarding complexity:

OOB > PC2 > PC1

But I would also like to add that this is a good or interesting type of complexity.

Most notable comparisons areas are air and naval combat:

Air combat:

In OOB you have to plan ahead because of fuel for your aircraft and also vulnerable state when landed. You can choose different load-outs for planes (bombs or torpedos)

Naval combat:

PC2: No core naval units, the best strategy is to concentrate firepower on the nearest ship
OOB: Ship maneuvers are really important as well as positioning and also there are torpedo attacks. Leaving multiple damaged enemy ships may be in some cases preferable over finishing off fewer ships

If you capture the last airfield and only the last airfield, the planes based on the last airfield "die", logical !

I made specially a test with the Editor, Poland South.
After capturing the first Polish airfield, the Polish plane will not die and join another Polish airfield (not a bad idea).
Maybe you should play a little more PanzerCorps 2 ?

All aircraft also die if it's raining. Doesn't have to be last airport.

I think the rule is simply, a plane must always have a base.

If there are no bases left, or if it is unable to reach those bases (due to adverse weather), then they are considered destroyed on the ground.

The air game is certainly one of the main differences between the two series. I like them both 😁
