"Official" Community Content

Hi,
So, finally, after many years of this, I have the keys to the Community Content Chest that appears in the top right of the Main Menu.
The release of 8.4.1 will see it updated to match the content that's been in beta for a while (erm... those new things might all be mine.. but someone else added them originally, honest!

)
However, from this point, I'd really love to showcase some of the great stuff that's developed in this forum!
So, if you have any scenarios, mods, skins etc which can be delivered via the Content Crate, then please let me know in this thread!
I only have a few conditions:
1. The same quality/content restrictions apply as to you as they do to the developers. e.g. No banned imagery (Swastikas etc), content operates properly/isn't broken, not someone else's IP (e.g. Erik's Desert Rats is great, but it is somewhat similar to Allied Corps for Panzer Corps

).
2. The version you submit is what you would class as a "Final/Master" version. I'm not your release engineer! I'll add new versions that fix surprise bugs, but won't put out constant patches and will pull content that's broken.
3. It's content that's "good" and "interesting". Yes, these are subjective.
Thanks!

Hidee-Ho, Shards!
I have some items I'd like to submit for consideration. In what format do you want responses? Maybe something similar to what the von Paulus page for user-submitted scenarios and campaigns?
Also, I think this will be a good thing to have some good user-submitted community content on the official start up page.

Hi conboy,
Yep, a post in here with a link to either your thread or the post on the SP/MP megathread would be ideal!

Hi Shards,
good idea to (finally) update and use this game's feature for something. I would suggest at least three more items:
- a link to both the "custom single player scens" and the "custom campaigns" threads here and
- a link to Mojko's unit navigator tool.

Well I can't put link into the crate, only downloadable things... But I can investigate whether we can link out to other resources from somewhere else in the game?

I see. There's just too much good stuff floating around to pick only a few candidates...
But I'll try:
Overall I would consider Bruce's work to be the most "stock-content-alike" around here. Native English speaking. Great briefings, in-game popups and obj. flavours, intensive research and excellent scen maintenance/bug fixing. But please don't ask me to pick something. Maybe ask Bruce what his favorite scens are (out of his own creations).
And I think that the SpanishCivilWar mod ("The Spanish Prelude 0.45") is really great, but it's still a WIP project, so I can't recommend it at this state.
Duplex's China scens can be recommended, too, although a mini-campaign or so would've been better than stand-alone scens. But he's still around, maybe...
And there's The Great Erik, of course....

... if I would have to choose
one to rule them all, then maybe Erik's "Germany West 1939-40" as "appetizer". It was his GGC then, that started my love for custom made work and made me start posting and modding, to be honest.
And you should
really watch out for the BrucErik Studios. Maybe it's better to
not include their work in the official stuff for free....

This will be my one entry for now. It's a standalone singleplayer scenario I created for Shard's Summer Scenario Shakedown - the 400, which unfortunately

never really had a conclusion. I consider it my most polished piece of work (because there are actually event pictures

).

The Battle of "Midway" ?
Yeah, The 400 kinda disappeared as I left Slitherine in that summer... I came back though (as evidenced

)

Yup, "Midway". It's really nice to have you back Shards! Hope my scenario can make it into the community content.

Great, thanks Duplex
I've made a few selections from some of the other designers and asked in the threads.
I'm trying to avoid maps that are VERY similar to content in other games (so Erik's remaking of Panzer Corps Grand Campaign maps and some TOAW maps aren't going to go up), and I'm also wary of some of Erik's Magnum Opii as I'm pretty sure that some of our lower end system users won't be able to load them (Yes, I'm looking at you Norway)...

Many, many years ago Norwegian Broadcasting sent a show to the Montreux competition, "Norway, Home of Giants"
The show was hosted by John Cleese and I think it won a prize.
So there...

I'm probably going to update the crate this week, at the same time as the next patch goes out.
My current plan is to add:
Bru's Castle Itter
Conboy's Operation Dragoon
Duplex's Battle of "Midway"
Erik's 2vAI version of Market Garden
Ta!

I'm currently running 2 play-tests of 2vAI M-G.
There will be changes to the scenario, so please holler when you really need the scenario for inclusion.
Edit: Nevermind. I've PM'd you a link to the updated M-G version.

@erik, I'll put info about requests for updates / plans for content in this thread rather than the main forum one if that's okay?

I thought it was just my mistake thinking certain multiplayer maps were inaccessible because I didn't buy a relevant dlc, but after trying to get another player to join me in The Russia Campaign I discovered I'm not the only one. I wonder if it would be possible to add a little mention of how to obtain inaccessible maps in the community chest box? Something along the lines of "FYI if a multiplayer map you wish to access is blocked, it can be downloaded for free from the Slitherine.com forums using your existing account" Thanks.

Hi,
I'll be pushing out a new patch for OOB this week.
If you want to make any changes to your uploaded scenarios, or tell me about changes to potential community crate content, let me know!

New patch, nice.
2vAI Market-Garden 1.3 update
https://www.dropbox.com/s/weu5177yep1li ... 3.zip?dl=0
Crate candidate: 2v2 Race For Tunis 1.3
Quite an interesting scenario if I may toot my own horn.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ho7tlztuwxr5s ... 3.zip?dl=0
If I've got too many scenarios in the crate, you can remove Coral Sea.
I think it has been there since the game originally published...
GabeKnight whispered to me that we may see the Zündapp unit as part of the official oob. Welcome it.
There are also a couple of interesting unit types in the BoB-campaign; the British Defiant, the German He59 and the City Center (yes, may come in handy for designers, just ask Bru).
