Dunkirk Bonus Objective with Air Force Denied

Just need a hero with envelopment.

Attacking ships in port forces them to flee regardless of damage inflicted, as long as it's at least 1 suppression worth of damage.
But envelopment hero attached make that flee turn into a full on surrender. Brilliant!

It's a funny interaction, a tank enveloping a cruiser.

But how do you get all the ships into port?

As long as I held off on capturing Dunkirk for a few extra turns, the AI seems happy to steam the ships into port because they had vision of my units.

Sounds like a good (if not slightly odd!) Plan in that case

I've just loaded into the Sea lion mission. Not sure If fancy that without air force, if you go that route let me know how you get on.

Neat! With all the heroes doing weird stuff, I really expect a thread in the vein of 'Had no fighters, attacked a Yak with my motorcycles: it surrendered!' to pop up here soon! ('Mr Turd — whoever attacks this unit is disbanded and surrenders in shame')

Horseman, you really don't need many ground troops to take the objectives in SE England, it's pretty poorly defended (did it with 3 Tigers, 3 experienced and half-tracked Pioniere, and 4 15 cm+ arty guns). The huge pile of core slots they give you in the first Sealion scenario is there for the planes (I had space left for like 12 Fw 190s, and you really need them, what with all the latest Spitfires and, worse, Mosquitoes).

Yeah I discovered this last night. I had a Division(half my ground forces) land in the east supported by Gustav. The other half were going to come across to support as I advanced and cleared the RN. I didnt need the other half! I would have purchased more fighters but my prestige was too low (I've been to frivalous with replacements in the past I think).

Still the RN is all gone. I had 1 BB, 1 CA, 2CL and 2 uboats left (all badly damaged). The aux air you get were left at 2 fighters both 1 step! Two of my fighters were retreated away from fighting on 3 and 4 steps. The other 2 were left on the front line at combat worthy 6&7 steps (RAF destroyed) my bombers are all damaged at least a bit.

Yeah the Air & Sea battle is bruttal!

EDIT: My first scenario where i have not replaced a single loss, so hopefully should be a little better off prestige wise. Being prestige starved for then first time has improved my game though, have been far less reckless and more measured in my approach.
