Stalingrad Ruins

Hi guys,
I decided to follow orders yesterday. The map is almost identical to Storming Stalingrad. Of course the weather is worse and the hunter has become a prey. One question: Why do so few people play this historical line? Mostly I have seen everyone choose Escape from Stalingrad. Any tips? It looks like it will be hardest to keep an airport under control.

I had a look of it and the thought about playing a scenario of city hex fighting for turn after turn and it didn't look like any fun at all. After naval combat, city fighting is my least favourite. I like a variety of terrain, so that's why I gave it a miss.

On my channel I have my attempt on doing it on super hard difficulty level that I abandoned once I hit Tatsinskaya.
I also tried it on Manstein difficulty which I have in an aar report. That ended in Marginal Victory as well. My next attempt will be on Ultimate Difficulty, but I probably will not reach that scenario for another year, at the rate I am able to play currently. (I just finished Leningrad last night.)
The reason why I think most players avoid the following Orders rule is for 3 reasons.
1) By the time you get to Stalingrad Ruins, you have played 2 very intense, very draining city battles. The thought of playing yet another one, becomes tedious, much like the real battle of Stalingrad became to the soldiers who fought there. (I am assuming.)
2) Most players have heard how difficult Tatsinskaya is and they want to challenge themselves.
3) Most players like playing scenarios that change the historical outcome of the war, even though that is not possible. (I for one am enjoying the historical background to each of the battles on the Grand Campaign, and it has caused me to learn a lot more about late war battles that I used to bypass.)
These are again my thoughts and assumptions, but no real datat to back this up.

Thank you for your post. I agree with those points. Tatsinskaya is a legend. But leaving hardly conquered places is very difficult (apparently that's why Paulus decided to stay). The year 1941 showed them that retreating from Moscow meant a long-term lost opportunity. Demyansk, on the other hand, showed them that even the siege is not a disaster. Stalingrad then taught them the opposite. I like the chance to change history and just after this mission is the chance to rewrite history to liberate the besieged Paulus 6th Army. I'm going to see your AAR from this mission now.
