Sometimes my allies get clobbered, so I liberate regions and cede them to my ally. However, I get messages like these, as though something negative happened. I can give money to an ally without the gift being interpreted as some kind of disaster. Why can't I give them a region that I don't want?

IME you always get this messages not matter how willing the trade was. But AFAIK there is no ill effect, it just looks weird.
However, it would be nice if that could be addressed sometime.

Sometimes, getting those regions back might not be a good thing.
