Where on site can I locate the means to order the DS edition of CEAW? Can't seem to find the store option for love of money.
I look in the store, but it seems to only be the PC version.
I'm Canadian, and I don't care if I end up with a Europe edition DS purchase, they all play in the DS after all. Shipping is not a barrier. I don't feel like waiting for a US release to actually make it into my area to be honest
It's my birthday in 6 days, and I have money to spend hehe.

There is a slight problem - we are not allowed to export DS/PSP/PS2 etc games outside Europe
You'll have to find an exporter on ebay to order it I'm afraid.
We can still send PC and other goods but not console games.

That is utterly idiotic isn't it.
Oh well not Slitherine's fault so I will settle for thinking bad thoughts towards the responsible parties

It's all to do with pricing structures and region code. E.g. you can buy a PS2 game in Russia for maybe $2 (thats a guess) and the same game might be $9.99 in Europe. Royalties to Sony are paid on the retail price, so Sony earn a much higher royalty per unit in Europe. So they region protect the software as much as possible. PSP & DS dont current have region codes so any software runs on them but the new DSi does have region locking so it wont run software from another region.
The same practicve goes for all the format hodlers. To offer prices that fit the local market they have to be able to lock those products to that market. Part of our agreement with them prohibits us from exporting the games outside their territory.

I've posted this elsewhere in these forums, but I did get my DS copy of the game a couple days ago. Aside from a delay between turns (default autosaves each turn) and no buttons (DS version is stylus only), the game rocks. For the last 2 nights I laid in bed and played for a good bit. Very nice option!

Great - glad you are enjoying
It would be great if you can get the word out. e.g. Post this kind of thing on other forums you visit or post customer reviews on Amazon etc. It all helps to build up momentum! We know the game is good but because there has never been a game like this on DS or PSP we have no established strategy gamer to sell to and its a real marketing conundrum.

Feel free to post the link you used to buy the game. We can't export but others might want to do what you did.

If ordering this from your store for PSP is Australia classed as part of Europe (as many other releases are) or can you also not export to Australia?

I am also a member of GameFaqs and there is no information on the site whatsoever in the DS section so I created a topic giving the link for this site in the process as well as the basic info on the back of the box.
Just had the game posted to me today on the DS and can't wait to play it!
can I just ask one question please? Just reading the back of the box my assumption is this game is a more military version of Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution where you can research and have battles. Would that be a fair assumption? I must say having 50 different researches excited me enough to make me want this game. Is this a European only game? None of the American's on GameFaqs have even heard of this game never mind played it or know someone who has.

Its only just released and not in the US yet. It is more like Panzer General with a strategic level than Civilization.

It's not a sandbox game like Civ4, maybe more like a scenario.
You're set with historical starting points, which include cities, and to some degree troop deployment.
There has been a desktop version of this game for a while now. I play on a Mac, and Freeverse publishes it in the States. And, they just released CNaW also.

I don't mean to be daft and show my age here by asking this question, but I going to ask any way. The release for the DS is that the Nintendo DS? If so, my 8-year old who has one wants this game for his DS. When I told that CEaW might be available for his DS he said, "Awsome, I've totally got to have this."
He's played several turns on the PC against the AI a few times before. He really doesn't apply any strategy. He just moves and attacks whatever he can. Maybe it's time that I start working out strategy with him. Anyway, I may be looking at buying a copy for his Nintendo DS (assuming this is the DS that you're referring to). I guess the issue is that I can't buy and have it shipped to the US. Is that correct?

I just answered my own questions by going to ebay. I just bought a copy for $35 US, which includes shipping. The buyer I bought from had 5-copies, he now has 4. Here's the link

Another question concerning the DS. We also have a Wii. Can't the DS output be routed through a Wii so that the output goes to the TV? I seem to remember one of my son's classmates playing a DS game in this manner.
Also I just noticed that the format is PAL. I know what PAL and NTSC means for DVDs and TV. What does this mean for DS? Will it work in my son's US DS? Oh well, I guess I'll find out for sure in a week or so.

Yes, it will. I purchased the DS version off of eBay UK as well, and it plays on the North American DS. I believe the DSi does implement regional restrictions, but not the DS.
