Heroes should die with their unit.

I thought I lost some really important units, but the heroes are back, all of them? How about an option in the menu that players can choose either live 100% every time, or less 25%, 50%, 75% that they may or may not survive. Put some excitement and consequences into the hero department. Living 100% all the time feels too gamey and baby level war game to me, an option for everyone to play how they choose would be an improvement.

I must admit I assumed heros did die of the unit they were attached to were lost.

I'd prefere it that way.

I thought instead of getting them back completely every time, maybe there could be a 25% chance they survive?

Maybe a chance they survive. They 100% shouldn't be immortal!

You can always refuse to use them after they...perish.

Yup there's that dismiss button right there. Imposing such a rule on all players is just going to make more people reach for those save/load buttons. While anyone who wants to impose chance for hero death on themselves... go right ahead. But it won't be a default setting.

Any why not a setting in the menu, you sound like you know what is best for EVERY player. You don't, in fact, their are more players in this post that want a change or option for this. And like everything else in the game, it could be added or fixed. If you are a content creator for the game, your personal opinion for the only way to play the game does not matter, it matters what the players want, especially when you sound like a jerk off. An option would be the PROFESSIONAL decision, not your personal opinion.

A valid point regarding dismissing them however.....

There's a reason Iron man settings exist in many many games when you can just choose not to reload.

Maybe make it a selectable option?

"People's hero are immortal" :D
So they should not "die", every hero (moreover she-heroes) appear again later under same name, even (s)he's probably someone different.

"maybe there could be a 25% chance they survive"

--> NO! i don't play in Chess mode to get more RNG with my heroes!

"Maybe make it a selectable option?"

--> +1 : and in iron mode , make them perish !

That is exactly what I said, AN OPTION FOR PLAYERS THAT WANT IT.

100% d´accord. An option would be great. And by the way: in iron man mode its defenitly a must. (and no i dont want to dismiss the heroes myself, i want to set a percentage from zero to 100% at beginning of the campaign)

If the 'devs' can squeeze this option in while focusing on the, more, important stuff such as more scenarios, campaigns, modding tools, bug fixes, etc...sure, why not.
Personally I would like some UI Scaling per the text...but I can live without it. (I have other means of resolving that...issue.)
I suspect that a feature that can, already, be implemented by the player (though artificially) is not high on their 'todo' list.
