Has anyone actually purchased and used Heavy Artillery more than once? Almost all the accounts seem to be, "I bought it and then realized I could not even rotate it. Never again."
Does it exist in the game system only for specific scenarios?

Not that I know off in eight months of playing only faced them once..IMO they don't seem that good for FOG which seems to be a quick moving rule set only my idea mind.

Well heavy artillery was not a big battlefield role in this period.
I've seen some people experimenting to create channels.
I had to storm across there arc of fire in one game.
But yes no one thinks there nifty more like a curiosity. But you may want them if you are going to siege a city.

I've considered it for my Syracusans. I think you have to have a definite plan to use them and know the exact restrictions you have with them.
More useful in armies that can have field fortifications. Which makes me wonder about the Syracusans not having the ability to buy Field Fortifications given their extensive use of them during the field battles of the Siege of Syracuse, but I guess that's scenario use.

Not at all.
The siege of Syracuse involved several field battles around Syracuse.

I have used them for a comp. I won it though not because of the art though.
I usually put them down either first or last during set up, use them as flank guards as break point padding and as a scum life support system (set them up with your poorer quality troops but placing them as the last units down) ect.
Would I use them in a comp again? probably not, unless I want to play the same army again as I don't have enough figures painted for it without the art.
