An important suggestion for tactical puzzles...

I would seriously consider moving the tactical puzzles out of the "Tutorial" section and into their own "Tactical Puzzles" section on the main menu.
There exists a sad majority, of all skill levels, who will never ever click any button marked "tutorial" ever on a kind of twisted principle of honour.
I fear those people are missing out on this awesome content.
You would be amazed at how many people ask where the tactical puzzles are and if they are a bonus for buying a special edition... having never once dared to demean themselves to clicking the dreaded "tutorial" button and risking feeling like they are a lesser player for looking at the tutorial...

I second that suggestion. And I pity the poor soul who tries working through the puzzles thinking they are part of a tutorial that they should be planing!

Top mindf*ck right there. "If you can't even solve these simple tutorial puzzles, you're not ready for the campaign."

I am just imagining someone deciding to play a video game for the first time, maybe an older gent who's interested in the history of WW2. He decides on the tutorial to learn, then starts doing the tactical puzzles...thinking they are part of the lessons...
XD. Funny part is, imagine if he then succeeded after weeks of trying and then finds out just how easy the rest of the game is by comparison

.

I would note that puzzles do have a difficultly levels of Easy to Hard in the description of each puzzle.
It's the standalone scenarios where veteran players are getting shell-shocked by the difficulty, not the puzzles.

The stand-alone scenarios give me hope for the future DLC campaigns, because the ones I've tried so far are better than most of the campaign ones. I'll admit that Lorraine was tricky going in blind and forced me to actually fight for my victory -- by contrast the Gothic Line was great fun but not particularly difficult, it being too easy to set up a strong defensive position on the banks of the Po to repel the German armoured counterattack.

Although the campaign also has some weird difficulty curve imho. I am in persia right now and the game has never been easier. In France 1940 though some levels (Ardennes, Dijon...) were really hard

If you're playing with default settings that's to be expected, because heroes are very much overtuned. Even a few of the top ones will make you snowball to the extent that you'll just roll through anything the AI throws up at you. I think Egypt was the last scenario in my first campaign where there was any hint to a real battle; the rest were largely a procession, interupted only by the aerial battle during Sealion (Middle East, Persia, Moscow, London, the US etc were scenarios you just rolled through). Perhaps that's one reason why players then struggle with the stand-alone scenarios, as they can no longer roll through 6 units per turn with a single OSed Tiger.

I think that is a very fair observation.
I always enjoyed starting in 41 and 43 in Panzer General to get more of a challenge, cause I didn't have the same amount of experience in my core and I also didn't have the exact composition I normaly prefered. So I've actually paused the campaign for now (Kursk, 1943) and played scenarios instead (Crete and Lorraine).

Menus were rearranged many times during development. Puzzles ended up in Tutorial for a few reasons. On one hand, they are artificial and stress knowing game rules, including more obscure ones. On the other hand, Tutorial section was very empty and we needed to fill it. Now that we've got "tactical advisor tips" in the list, it is not looking empty any more, and this might be a good moment to move them elsewhere. Maybe to SCENARIO section for the time being.

The puzzles can certainly be tricky before you get into the right mindset. I had more difficulties with the double siege one than many of the later ones because I kept looking at it as a battle to win. It wasn't until I ditched that view and regarded it purely as a puzzle with disposable pieces that it clicked, as in a scenario you'd probably never want to sacrifice units purely to drain defensive fire support.

I would be a dissenting voice here.
To put River Panther alongside the likes of Defender of the Reich is nothing short of an insult. To advertise them as full on scenarios by describing them as scenarios gives the wrong impression of what a scenario is and should be. If one of the Field Marshal DLC was 10 puzzle scenarios, or 10 actual scenarios, people would probably react extremely differently.
1 turn mechanical puzzles belong as tutorials, because it's almost exactly what they are. Advanced learning tools. Scenarios are for combat and advanced gameplay.

I think there is enough of them to have their own section and that them having their own section would advertise their existance better.
But that's just my thoughts.
