My first real Kushan BG

Hi Guys,
I've just finished my first cataphract BG from Khurasan range (

They are easy to paint and looks really nice once finished.
Now I will start painting a bowmen BG.

Marco, is that location 'saint brieuc' in Cotes D'Armor? Some friends of my wife have a gite near Lannion. Beautiful countryside and coast from St Pol-de-Leon to Cap Frehel.

well....
vietnamese was a "maybe" project of khurasan
if they do it, anyway i buy it and play it with an other rule ; )
i'm belonging to the kind of wargammer who like all this kind of armies (khmer for example)
and cry when they look at the possible figure to modell it

i add that sometimes i'm disapointed because some armies disapear (i'm a dbm player)
like the lpia...

because i find the figure available great !
(i would like a mass of cat camels !)

I have trouble cramming three cav on a base, much less four.
Great paint job.

Great job Fred! I love seeing units of my guys painted, that's really what it's all about.
I pressed the sculptor to make sure the models would fit 4 to a base and I think he did a great job. I'm quite pleased with how the Kushans came out.
I did this rather quietly as I don't have pics of them yet, but the Kushan general + standard, king + standard (representing Kanishka the Great), and Kushan elephant are now on the webstore. Totally understand those who want to wait to see them before ordering of course, I'm trying to catch up after a bit of a medical kink in my activities.
On their way to me are the Indiam javelinmen and Indian cavalry. Being sculpted now are Indian general and his brollie bird, and three lowly levy types (not available in FoG atall but REQUIRED in DBMM!!!). I might then make Kushan ethnic infantry, and possibly Gandarian foot as well. Also the dreaded Indian chariots if I can find evidence that they existed in the Satavahana period!

I have some of these minis and will start on them tonight if I can. I have a question about the elephants - "iron plated" seems self explanatory, but were there any of these plates faced with or decorated in other, more ornamental metals? The prospect ofpimping these rides is very alluring...

I recommend respearing everything before you paint. Things are all great early on but after a few outings the whole BG will suffer from flaccidlance.

I typically replace the spears with brass if I can get it, piano wire if not. I don't care for a "flaccidlance" look.
My Kushan are going to be distinctly Hollywood . . .
If a culture that is influenced by the Scyth/Saka, Greeks, Persians, Chinese, Huns and Indians cannot be made colorful then one is not really trying.
Anyway, I will have some "maiden guard" here and there so all lances should be rigid.
