Thxs for this awesome game.

I m playing a classic campaign with theses options and it is perfect for my way of playing:

- Iron man ( no more than one save and no undo move)
- randomness = 0 ( i want to finish a unit and not let it repair )

- No limit turn : at last! The top option for me , the real pleasure to go slowly is here. no more rush , no more pression to play a very risky way , the possibility to encircle enemy and capture units (not possible when rushing) .... ..No more prestige left too at the end but i tested in béta with limit turns several times and i never get victory before one or two turns ending (= 4% of prestige lost)... and i must avoid to take all obectives cities else the mission is ending.

- field marshall difficulty : in colonel or general, there are too many prestige and in field marshall difficulty, you have to spare each prestige.

- my traits : anti-air veteran trait ( lethal 88) / killer team ( 3 heroes) / slow modernization ( no more than 3 upgrade by mission)

For me , it is the best way to play the game. and you ? what options do you play ?

Only Multiplayer ... for me AI has no skill at all. but I wish the same thing can be allowed for me to choose my commander traits etc

Not sure I'm a fan of the traits have been using the minimum.

Interesting. Have you played the highest level and several scenarios? Many times the early scenarios are quite easy for skilled players.

I'm more of a MP person, glad to hear the scenarios are considered balanced. What are your impressions of MP?

The way the Ai or Game difficulty are designed in this game seems to be ....simply when you look at the difficulty setting:

1 Penalize the players income ..
2 Reduce time to complete objective
3 Give the ai more income to buy more units
4 Give the ai a lot higher accuracy so they are artificially stronger.

I think there are more but all of these things I have just listed do not in anyway make the Ai smarter or a more skilled opponent.

The Ai will rush at un-reconned hex and get ambushed
The Ai will put units into rivers and forests that makes them extremely vulnerable
The Ai will not use correct order of operation like get a recon attack bonus, hitting with arty, surround a unit for encirclement bonus, use of bomber for more entrenchment , attempting to weaken a few enemies so it very powerful tank could get multiple overuns , using a plane recon to regain a recon bonus on a unit that has retreated to ensure next hit will be as good as it can , before commencing any attacks.

Doesnt sound very intelligent to me.

This is a small example of why players such as my self have absolutely no interest in the single player mode and bought this game entirely for Multiplayer ... A human player could do all of these things just mentioned .... but a human will usually learn from its mistakes and seeing how their enemies have taken their forces apart.

As for the Scenarios balance im not sure who you are addressing I havent played any of the preset ones my focus has been on the random map scenarios , trying to get a more than 2 player game running in real time and trying to learn about how to make user created custom maps work in multiplayer.

I have also spent a lot time on this forums but not having much luck at all to find answers.

The random players I have managed to get into 2 player games have been good to talk to in game and very keen to play online hoping for improvements :)

Someone said about making random maps with seeds . I have tried a bit of this but im not sure exactly the seed ratios I did test a random gen map adding more road seeds to see if they connect the roads up better.

As yet I havent had an answer to how if at all we can use the custom seeded random, or user generated maps in multiplayer

The ai is not bad. Clearly we all want the no boni and of course not cheating REAL ai. Maybe in 20 years.
But on the other hand: such a real artificial intelligence would mop the floor with us. :mrgreen:

For me, i play only in multi with my brother or my son because there are too many cheaters. Somme guys will do" undo move" many times just to discover all the map.
Others will rush you or even stop playing after some turns...

The AI is not perfect but AI makes encirclement, attacks your weak units. It is a real challenge to beat some scenarios even with infinite turns. I like my army growing and heroes appearing. You will not get this in multi. Did you play grand campaign with more than 50 scenarios ? it is just a big adventure to make it in iron mod.

You can easily set the Undo move to disabled ... also the dev said it should be disable in multiplayer by default.. as for hot seat ... well in hotseat undo move does work unless you set it off in the advanced options

How is the ai not bad? I think you very much confuse overall scenario difficulty has nothing to do with the Ai skill level.

If you read all the points above it clearly shows the ai is extremely bad and difficulty of a scenario is only achieved by things that how nothing at all to do with the skill level of the Ai.
