Since the Spanish Civil War is a thing, I've started making some vids again:

First playthrough, most of the scenarios played for the first time.

I gave the SCW another chance and did a 2nd playthrough at Generalissimus, even though I swore I wouldn't

I'm liking it a bit more this time, and I'm really appreciating some of the scenarios and the overall beauty of playing many scenarios in the same time frame and against the same opponent. My first impression was 3 of 5 stars, now I'm willing to push it to 4 of 5.

Still not a fan of those AI allies though

I've become better at using attack/halt at the right times (defend is very rarely useful): the most important thing you can do is keep the AI away from the front lines whenever possible. This will mean they don't get in your way, don't get slaughtered bc of buggy supporting fire, and overall this saves like a million prestige. I played through Eboo twice, for example, once with an active AI that got into the fight early, and one where the AI did as little as possible. The difference was about 4k prestige by turn 30...

Anyway. I've published Zaragoza now, but played through Ebro yesterday, so it'll come up soon.

Looks like that episode is incomplete and cuts off at the start of Turn 6.
Not sure if this was going to be a 2-part one or not.

That's not intentional. I'll have to check what the problem is.

Not sure if this was going to be a 2-part one or not.

Looks like I recorded it in 2 sittings, and forgot to push record for the 2nd half.

I made no saves mid-scenario.

Very annoying.

I could maybe do a new playthrough, to show the whole thing, but it was an incredible simple and almost boring scenario. The fight is basically over after the vid ends. I spent the last turns harvesting prestige.

Tried using a file recovery tool to see if I maybe did record, but accidentally deleted the part, but no luck.

Edit: I have the start-of-scenario save, so I could maybe do a new vid later. We'll see.

And finally, the 3.5-hour Generalissimus slugfest that is the Battle of the Ebro. At no point was this a defensive battle :steamhappy:

Note that this solution to the scenario requires a good offensive hero setup. I have one with rapid-fire, which is very useful, but MVP through most of the game has actually been the lowly Butcher hero, which lets the 15 str Trubia Naval just slaughter enemy inf. Cripling something (the one with +5 str vs full-strength units) is likewise hugely valuable. If you can't kill enemies quickly enough during the start of the scenario, you're in trouble, but if you can chain steamroller overruns against full-str enemies, you're good.

It's no biggie, you got over the important part: the set up and deployment as well as the initial attack.
The rest can be extrapolated from there.
Although I'm curious whether you went to capture the artillery across the river...

Yes.

I halted allies and went over the river. Captured the lot, which boosted my prestige quite a bit. Because, why not?
