Let's see how well we can weather it. I like AlbertoC much more when he is enthusing about new OOB content! :)

Well, get it if you must, get bored with it quickly, and come on back here!

The prior videos have disappeared from YouTube. Now there´s just commercial ones. From this you already may imagine why.

I can't get past the arcade looking graphics but that is just my narrowmindedness shame because "The King of wargames is back"

With my reputation around here, I cannot pose as a fanboy but phrases like "The King of wargames is back" annoy me nonetheless.

As far as the graphics, here's the thread that complains about that in case anybody missed it: I still don't like the way PzC 2 looks. It might be a good game - though I tried the original PzC and wasn't that impressed - but I cannot get past that screen busyness and tiny forest shrubs.

I'll stick here, thank you. I have a new scenario coming out today, as a matter of fact.

Looking forward to the Scenario the reason I put "The King of wargames is back" in quotes is that's because when one checks out the promotional video of Panzer Corps 2 the narrator says that ....

Hey, gunny, I didn't direct that at you. Alberto says it in his announcement thread and I saw the phrase someplace else, too. Sorry if you got the wrong impression.

They also say PzC 2 is "the ultimate World War II strategy game." Grrr. :x ( )

I don"t often offer many opinions about certain games, however when I do it's obvious that OOB far surpasses many. Every day I browse this particular forum for new content as many do. I really look forward to what BruErik co-operation and comments have to say or are working on. I eagerly await anything OOB has to release, unlike the " the king of Games" is offering, the system specs alone make me cringe. I'm an older gamer (70) I have many games I have purchased from Slitherine (over 30) that play just fine with my desktop and laptop( which is a piece of junk) So in closing i want to thank BRU and mnay others for all of their works and efforts today and in the future. Lets get those Aristocats to expand into other theaters .. ah hmmmm bru

Thanks, ME! (As in Messerschmitt, not myself.) You may be interested in the standalone scenario that I just released today: The Raid on Turku.

Yeah it would have been hilarious if I also said "moreover it is 'the ultimate World War II strategy game'" - which even though I own most any WWII Strategy Game I will probably never own PzC 2 but glad many will enjoy it.
My fav WWII game is Pong !!!

Yes I agree that "the ultimate World War II strategy game" is a bit of a weird claim for PzC2. It doesn't even have anything related to the Pacific. With all its campaigns, OoB would qualify better for that title. But hey, that's marketing towards casual for you.

As for PzC2, my PC, which is already struggling with processing the AI's turn in OoB, can not run it well. PzC2 may look awesome when played on high-end PC, but on my PC, to get a decent number of frames per second (~25), I must set all the graphics options to "low" or "minimum", which makes the game look blurry and ugly.

Which means I'll probably stay with OoB and it's more "cartoony" (but charming) graphics for a few more months. Not that I had ever planned to fully abandon it, though.

Bru, I never thought I will defend Slitherine's game against Slitherine's moderator :)
PzC 2 is a very interesting and very solid game, these people spent a lot of time to create it
First, they asked people what game would like to see, and then they made such a game 8)

Actually, I am OOB's moderator, although Slitherine is my "employer." I have moderator privileges only here in OOB-land.

Oh, I'm not saying PzC 2 is a bad game. I said a while back that if PzC had been the only successor to John Tiller's Campaign Series (of those games I know and consider as a successor), then I would be with PzC and now PzC 2 all the way. For me, OOB has way better graphics and unit to background balance. It has the supply system which I think is crucial (does PzC 2 deal with supply yet?). And I know OOB now like the back of my hand (designing, not playing  ).

But above all, I cannot get around the way the maps and units look in PzC 2. It takes me right out of immersion. That's me, of course. YMMV.

You know very well that I also think there is only one game which HAS SOMETHING other games don't have
but games like PzC 2 are also needed, they have their fans and I think many players (thanks to PzC 2) will reach for OoB later, because they bought PzC 2 I hope they will also notice OoB

That may well explain our guess as to the timing of releasing Red Steel. Catch on to the PzC 2 coattails while the genre is hot, so to speak.

There are so many fantastic things about OOB one glaring example is you can download it for free and get an idea about it [completely impossible with PzC2 - even though its 2020] without having to listen to videos of people who put you to sleep many of which are clueless about what they are doing because they just installed it or they are familiar and ad nauseum focus on one central thing in a 1 hour video. HOWEVER, the best thing about Panzer Corps is that it - NOT PzC2 - PANZER CORPS !!! - is that because of it and all of its DLC stuff we have among other things Custom Campaigns that mirror the same battles so I am so happy to see PzC2 because hopefully we will get the cloned battles put into OOB at some point !! Woo Hoo
This concept here though is more important that previous dribble >>>>>> Having spied into their forums my personal attitude regarding pc gaming is still holding true if there is a game out there you really want to enjoy the most dumb thing you will ever due is buy it when it first comes out they are having bugs, in addition things like turn limits on or off can ONLY be set at the beginning of a campaign so when you want to change this back you can't if you set it to limited turns they ya gotta start doing a cheat code. If you set it to unlimited you are stuck in oblivion. And there are many problems which frankly occur with most any game when it comes out so the best thing to do when a game comes out is to yawn and WAIT !!! At least 6 months maybe more THEN get it. Finally, look how long it took for Panzer Corps to get that upgrade which gave you all kinds of AI options, and combat mechanics and stuff it was WAAAAAY after it came out this upgrade was so wonderful that ya had to play everything all over again...

But the things you write about are a problem for most PC games, not just PzC 2
I repeat, I think you are too harsh for this title, this is a very good tactical game
This is not my favorite game because I'm a supporter of maximum historical accuracy in war games, and PzC/PzC 2 does't even give a substitute for it, because it's not able to provide it
which doesn't change the fact that I appreciate the work of its creators and look forward for many hours of fun
