I have been practising for a MP game using the skirmish mode and worked out my army list in sych a way that no points were wasted then begin my MP game and find the army list is different so all my planning has been wasted and now have to work out another force to best utilise my points. Note the Superior Archers.
Why is this ?

The army list minima and maxima are scaled according to the total points available. If when testing the army you want it to be the same as it will be in MP, you need to change the points total to match the MP game you intend to play. You can do that in Advanced Settings in Skirmish setup. (Click down to 100 then back up to the number of points the MP game will be).

If you want the AI to give you a good test game, you should also scale up the AI points in the same proportion. But, of course, bear in mind that the actual MP enemy army will have the same points total as your own.
