Caution, folks. New member (first post) with a great offer that cannot be refused. For one thing, I doubt there are 1,400 color photos of WW2 in existence. For another thing, he really doesn't know the game if he recommends extracting photos to that folder without trimming and formatting for use in the game or in a mod.
We were recently burned by somebody else doing the same thing - a link to crapville by some moron - and this may in fact be the same person. "Out of an abundance of caution," a phrase I am getting tired of hearing for other reasons, I have removed the link and reported this post. Let's see if this guy is the genuine article.

@terminator: I see what you are demonstrating; you must be a trusting soul. Still, I would hesitate to dump 1,400 images into that folder without proper editing and labeling. But I guess you are indicating that the photos are genuine and workable. Any odd sounds emanating from your computer yet?
@zakblood: How is he allowed to post a link in this first post? Anyway, let's see if he comes back and protests. If he is a genuine person (first post, mind you, and already knows what terminator knows), then I will begin to change my mind. I will prevent him from linking anything unless and until he shows himself to be true.
As forum moderator, an "abundance of caution." And, to be honest, because I got burned recently by somebody else that zakblood banned.

P.S., terminator, please hold onto that link just in case we want to put it back into the OP. It turns out that this is a modding process, as you have shown, because the "Units" folder does not exist in the original game installation. At least that is my thinking; it's not a matter of just replacing the vanilla unit images by "copying over them":

So if I have acted precipitously, then I will readily apologize. That's the thing about being a forum moderator; all of a sudden, you are thinking about and concerned about somebody's equipment being hacked or people using this forum to advertise garbage.
But first, let's see if he comes back again.

anyone can link here on first post, rule only applies to Matrix i'm sorry to say, so i tend to also knock any links off i find on first users posts, just incase something is embedded in them tbh also, have asked VP to look and see if anything else sticks out, but agree, when not sure, remove is also my first port of call and then see if user comes back and re posts anything on it, so imo good move

I believe the rule only applies to Matrix forum at least now.

Dear moderator, as you noticed, I have done some amount of work finding all that pictures and editing them to be 211 x 111 pixels.
Yes you right, there weren't color images for all equipment in game, so for I edited some of the images and colorised some using this site:
https://demos.algorithmia.com/colorize-photos
If there isn't units folder, you can simply create it.
I don't know how to persuade you that i am "genuine" person, but am asking to return link, I think people will like these photos. I actually tried made them as much historical accurate as posible.
For example german soldiers apeared with MG42 only after 1942 year, and STG 44 apeared in 1944. Others units also correct according my history knoledge.
Best regards Alexey

You just did, Alexey. Thank you for returning in order to do so and please accept my apology. Also, please come back once more and provide the download link again in another post. I will edit your first post and restore it there.
I will offer one more caution (before removing that word from the thread title):
No matter how trustworthy the source, even from those of us who have been around the longest, it is always advisable to run a virus scan on a downloaded file before you open it. Bad things can happen to the best of us and bad news can be completely inadvertent on the part of the contributor.

I do potentially see an issue with these photo. Some of them have a white background. No issue, right? Nope. The name of the unit on the purchase screen is in white text, so it doesn’t show up too well. Otherwise, I quite like these.

They do look quite attractive. Though it should be understood that this means modding the game which most of us (including me) don't know how to do. I may want to learn, though, for this purpose. That requires people willing to explain how to do so. I'm thinking of moving this thread to the Scenario Design forum where such people hang out. We'll see.

Yes text on bright photos is quite hard to read, but not big problem i think. Maybe moders know how to change text color.
But simply to use these images modding skills not needed.

Thank you. Opening post restored. Where have you been, that this impressive contribution is your first post? Working on 1,400 images, I suppose.
