From Rise of Rome:

For the Late Republican Roman army list, under core troops, the 4 Light Foot units are listed as 6-8 bases per BG as one large box instead of 4 separate boxes. Does this mean that I can mix Javelinmen, Archers, Slingers and Velites in the same BG? (Same question for the Medium Foot under optional troops?)

For Bithynian Allies, The first line of Citizen Foot has the type medium foot or heavy foot. Does this mean I can mix Medium and Heavy foot in the same BG? With the same unit, Can I mix Off. Spearmen and Pikemen in the same BG?

The BG size column just means that BG size requirement applies to all the troop lines covered by the box. Normally all bases in a BG are identical. You can only combine troops in a mixed BG where the list and boxes specifically indicate that you can do so and it will indicate the ratios available. This is usually HF or MF close combat troops with MF or LF shooters behind, though there are a few mounted mixed BGs.

HF or MF means each BG must be one or the other. Many lists further require that all of that troop type in the army be one or the other, which is usually to allow differing interpretations of the army.

That's what I assumed, but I wanted to verify it.

To clarify further, In the LRR list->optional troops->Thureophoroi the type is "All MF or All HF". This means that all the Thureophoroi BGs in an army need to be one or the other, correct?

1. In the LRR Allies list. Can I take 1 BG each of Velites, Archers, Slingers AND Javelinmen of up to 6 bases each, or can I only have ONE of those BGs?

2. Also in the same list, slack legionaries total bases are All or none. What does this mean? does it mean all my ally legionaries must either be regular or slack?

You can only have a total of 6 bases of all those combined - i.e., 1 BG.
