I second that. Give the people a classic alternative to civ 6.

I would
love to see a modern version of MoM -- even an "Enhanced" edition like what Beamdog has done with the Baldur's Gate series -- but, without access to the source code it is unlikely that anyone will attempt it.

Yip, as I am huge fan of the MoM, I can only second this.
The thing is players today know that there are so many features possible today which were not in that game back then, neither were these features in any other game.
Which one could be a good addition for a new MoM? F.Exe. A faction which can advance with technology and bring in gunpowder weapons and distribute them to (all) /other factions?
You can end up in messy world build like Age of Wonders in which every faction can use nearly every weapon-type and end up with really mixed up armies with so many stats, counters and counter-counter that the games learning curve can be frustrating high or even higher like in Europa Universalis 4 when you add too many features. Paradox has established something like subscriber games and can therefore with time add more features and stretch the learning curve. The original CK2 release version is a fracture in volume compared to "end product". Back then MoM had quite a sum of stats, yes , for my impression it was not overburdened and intuitive enough.
