Northern Classic 2020

We are in the stages of planning this year's Northern Classic with a provisional date of the weekend of 6 December
Dave has put a post out to the Slitherine UK group but I will go through our proposal in a little more detail below.
We wish to do something a little different and encourage as many players as possible to attend. Our two main proposals are set out below.
Please if you have chance comment on what you would prefer, which you are more likely to turn up for
Option 1
A pool of armies with a bonus for some of them
A themed competition of between 800 and 900 points. The army lists allowed in the theme will be ranked.
Those of lowest ranking will gain extra army points towards their construction so as to encourage poorer and less used armies to appear.
For example LRR would get no bonus points, Carthaginian 40 bonus points, Ancient Spanish 80 (the bonuses are not yet decided but that is the idea)
Option 2
Matched pairs of armies
MAWS will provide all the armies
As many differing army types as possible will be represented
These armies will be matched historical enemies specifically designed to fight each other
Players will play each round using a different army against a different opposing army
For Example Serbian v Ottoman, Byzantine v Seljuk, Ilkhanid v Mongol, Burmese v Malayan
