Prestige management

I learned the hard way that in PzC1 I had to hoard prestige early in the campaign to make it to the end. Is it roughly similar here? Also, is difficulty locked in from the start or can you adjust it between missions as you can in OOB? Thanks

Looks like you can adjust between missions like in OOB. Also, I'm not that far into the main campaign but I'm definitely running up against some prestige management issues. I chalk that up to my poor management (and also just fooling around with units) - a better player than I probably doesn't run into the same problem.

At the higher difficulties prestige management is always an issue.
As it should be.

Prestige is going to be a huge issue and you will want liberator (basically manditory) if you are playing on Field Marshall.

You can switch difficulty between missions.
Prestige is NOT a problem at the default difficulty (at least not for me).
On the very highest difficulties, prestige ca be a problem. You get less, and typically take more losses (costs prestige), and can be forced to replenish more during scenarios (costs even more).
There are 2 general's traits and some heroes that give extra prestige.

Makes me wonder how "extra prestige" traits compare to the other traits we can select.

They are useless on low difficulty, then more interesting as difficult goes up.
I talk some about the traits here:
