Slitherine

I've seen this many times, in the pick below my light unit is at 100', the 4 light horse archers are at 150' and the hilltop is 200'. Yet all 4 have a clear shot at him. It's unclear how they can shoot normally at him, except with blind indirect fire.

btw I've always wondered what the unit was for terrain height (ft, metre, game unit).
If I am not mistaken, it is not specified in the manual.

I infer from OP's use of the abbreviation 100' that it is foot.

(I am sure someone will answer roman or greek foot. But what about P&S ? )

The engine LOS algorithm isn't perfect and will allow such shots.

The height units are arbitrary and do not represent any particular unit of height.
