Panzer Corps 2 Field Marshal Edition - $69.95 at launch

Wow - sorry - but Panzer Corps 2 - $69.95 at launch is absurd. UOC2 - terrific state of the art game - $29.95 - OoB - $14.95 with all of Erik's free DLCs. And arguably PzC2 is not better than PzC1

Jesus! $70? That is absurd. Are there DLCs, too? Or is all content available with the game?

This is the price of vanilla game (with bonuses) + 2 future DLCs, which I suppose will be release this year

Thats still overpriced. With OoB, you can pick which DLCs you do and don’t want. You can get them in bulk. And if none of the DLCs are appealing, buy the cheapest one and make your own. Erik’s campaigns are an amazing substitute, and some mods,(namely The Spanish Prelude) can completely change the game. If you don’t like the mods that are available, or you feel units are missing, make your own mod.

There was a 15% discount, which makes it a bit more appealing. And in the grand scheme of things, I think that game developers (the ones doing the work, NOT the ones ownign the companies) deserve to be fairly compensated for their work. I hope the proceeds go to them, and not their bosses. On another note, I would happily pay Erik or Bruce or Terminator or Gabe or anyone of they folks who do it for free, for their content. Your time and effrots have value, and deserve compensation for the value and joy you provide.

 If you want to compare with Order of Battle WW2:
-Order of Battle US Pacific = 19.19€
-Order of Battle Rising Sun = 19.19€
-Order of Battle Red Star = 14.99€
-Order of Battle Endsieg = 14.99€
TOTAL = 68.36€ -> 74.63 $

PS: I took as reference the OoBWWII game at the start(US Pacific and Rising Sun were reunited in the beginning) with the last two DLCs

How do I know I specifically want the two DLCs that are going to be released- I don't even know what they are. Extra Scenarios and Bonus skins is alarming as well for those who don't pre-order. Not a fan of these tier game sales didn't like that about some of the RPGs that have tried to do that or the Paradox games that try and do it.

Really dislike the pre-order model, but giving people chunks of the game that have been taken out is disgusting. Pay for the game now before it is finished or pay for a game later and never get the 'full' game.

I plan not to buy Panzer Corps 2 now.

For this price they should offer a DEMO even if they charge $5.00 just to play it which to me would be fine assuming it is an all inclusive demo .. whatever that means... Uh, worth the $5.00 so that you actually know what you will be getting for your $70.00 they should then discount the $70.00 by $5.00 ... anyway ,,, - regarding STEAM

I hate STEAM games as far as if I can choose between owning a game through steam or owning it by NOT requiring an internet connection to re install it etc. I want a NON STEAM GAME. Steam makes it easy for the updates etc. but I hate the way steam runs in the background and you have to go offline to play it offline then you haven't played it in awhile so ya connect to steam then steam makes you re verify your email blah blah blah ... I bought Panzer Corps Gold the one now that has EVERYTHING bought it yesterday having played Panzer General when it first came out then Panzer General 2 then PG 3 D etc. I am glad to own Panzer Corps Gold which took all of these to the next level AND if the internet goes down - Armageddon, Financial Crisis, Evacuate to a different country etc .. I can sit there wherever I'm at and play Panzer Corps Gold NOT having to rely on steam... and knowing a bunch of passwords. Course I can do the same thing with OOB woo hoo ... !!!

The only beef I have with the price of $70.00 is the simple concept of when does a game EVER !!!! come out that at least during the first year and usually after that it has to be tweaked with a lot of fixes and bugs that are found. So they are basically charging someone that trusts them $70.00 to trouble shoot completely the game and take the time to talk about it in the forums to then have to patch the game continuously which finally results in a polished product that some noobie can get their hands on for a much lower price when it goes on sale.

Back to Steam < ---- There are some steam games that are "Early Access" which cost LESS than the official release which is offered for the ones that buy it a chance to own it for a cheaper price because they ALSO wade through the game commenting on it and going through the patches ...

WAIT !!! The following is the reality of the $70.00 for this or any game::: If your the type of person who goes to a movie and pays $ 12.00 - a movie something that in a couple hours will be nothing more than a memory you should easily be able to drop $70.00 If you take a babe out to dinner who you really do not know that well and with drinks drop $50.00 or more. Which is what ... just another memory ... you should have already bought the game cause you enjoy "wasting money" Final thought I have a Pyrex 1 Quart Measuring cup that just about every day I heat up my breakfast in this thing I have gotten my moneys worth out of it so if your going to play it a lot it is entertainment that you use and you do not even have to use gasoline and drive anywhere to use it ..

I wonder what will the price of the standard version be? (whithout wallpapers and soundtracks)
I suppose if you are a thrifty person and you try to manage your resources wisely, or do you have many other passions, which also require some investment, then you choose the economic version, not the luxury one ( :?: )

I agree that 70 bucks seems a lot. But think about the hours and hours of fun you can have. My bet is that you can easily play 70 hours of Panzercorps 2. Probably a lot more including multiplayer, mods etc. Most likely, you will pay less than a buck for premium entertainment per hour. Sounds like a good deal to me.

But the issue is, a lot of people won’t pay $70 for that game. I could buy 2 to 5 other games that would provide the same entertainment for a fraction of the price. How do we know the quality of these DLCs? How do we know we want those DLCs? That is something I like about OoB. You can see and play the first scenario of each DLC for free. It’d be better to me if they sold the game with one campaign, that’ll give you a taste of the game, but costs less. People can decide from there if they want the game or not. Similar to the way OoB did it, on Steam at least. You get the “Boot Camp” campaign for free, to try out everything and learn how to play. You can then choose ANY of the DLCs, or none at all if you find the game isn’t to your liking.

Yeah, but that is always a problem when buying games. 70 bucks is steep for you, but for those people putting the highest value on this game aka super-fans who preorder it, this wont matter. Later on, the price will drop. Trust me.
And the re-play value of hex games is huge. I doubt that any other game out there can match that.
