I have a quarry that produces 12 infrastructure.
I can upgrade it to a large quarry which yields 6 infra, 3 money (including a bonus from marble but not sulphur).

Is that in addition to the quarry? Else it does seem more like a downgrade.

it tells you that the large quarry does indeed produce the 10 infa from the original.

Yes, thats were I looked first. But unfortunately it looks different in the game.
Here is whats in the guide:
10 infra + 5 bonus each for marble & sulphur.
Here it is from the game:
Which is 1 infra & 1 money without the boni (which you don't need for the normal quarry).

Hence my question: is that just displayed wrong or is it really wrong in the game? Can anyone who has built this please clarify?

Hmm, something went wrong with the images.
Heres the missing picture from the guide:

The picture ingame only lists the changes... the strategy guide lists the building.. the difference is the quarry already present in the province...
So for infrastructure the large quarry adds an additional 6 infra for example..

Yep!

It is still a lousy pick in most circumstances isn't it? Or do you take it in the hope of unlocking marble?

Thanks - this is what I wanted to know.

Actually it says: 'Estimated changes' in the UI so the information is there. IMHO that could be a bit more obvious.

Maybe. Its not taking up a slot so maybe instead of shuffling.

I mention this in my commentary, but oddly enough, I find myself building these regardless. If you have one slot remaining and the other 5 choices take up a slot, I'll go for the zero slot upgrade almost every time. It's surprising how often this situation arises.

Another small benefit: Marble Vein is already unlocked by the Quarry, but building the Large Quarry removes it from the pool of possible structures, slightly increasing the odds of that rare Marble Vein showing up.
