Email notification

Hi,

bought the game, runs fine and it's really really good! :)

Unfortunately I have a problem with getting email notifications for my turn in multiplayer. I changed my Email in my Slitherine account on the website (confirmed it then of course) because the one I used before received the notifications but they ended always in spam no matter what I did in the filter settings. So I changed it to an Email account where I don't have a Spam filter active (so I know I will get everything) but now I don't get any notification at all...

Any ideas?

I would suggest contacting support@slitherine.co.uk and they can check that everything is working as it should.

I happened to be in contact with support otherwise, and mentioned the missing email notifications for FOGE. They do after all work for the other games, but not for FOGE (I do recieve an email when the MP game starts, but there are no notifications for turns). I recently chatted with a couple other players, and it is same for them too, so I suspect nobody (?) recieves email notifications for the turns.

Support however responded that email notifications work "most of the time", and suggested the I should check my spam filters. Well, there is nothing in my spam folders, as I had already verified that earlier.

In short, I suggest people who do not recieve email notifications for FOGE turns send an email to support (address is above in Pip's message) so that support gets a correct view of the situation. They apparently genuinely believe the email notifications are duly sent.

You should check not only the Spam folder but also the 'All Mail' folder, which is catching each and every mail you got except spam (going to spam folder).

This way you can be sure your notification email is not missed. Perhaps it is referenced for example as a promotional email and you still have the promotional emails tab active? In any case, please check your 'all mail' folder.

If the problem is widespread and is server-based, then we need to see with the Server/Web team, support can't intervene at this point as they don't have access to the server itself.

Oh, I know how to do that, and so does my friend too; can't say for the others I chatted with, but I suspect they might not be blind (as they have told they have checked everything). And turn notifications for FOGE aren't there, they are nowhere. For FOG2 and OOB I recieve messages just fine (when game starts, when a new turn is processed, when the game ends), but for FOGE only the message that the game has started and after that no further mails.

Thanks for the details. I'll reach the PBEM server team then so they see if the issue is widespread or not.

For me, email notifications continue to appear only intermittently, as I previously outlined here.

I'd like to chime in that I don't get any email notifications for MP Empires. I do get them for FOGII which I think is a bit weird. :)
AFAIK my coplayers also either don't get them or only intermittently.

Please contact support with your details - the more example they have the better they are able to help the server team determine the causes of any problems.
