Playing beta as Rome-- Syracuse has taken Eryx from Carthage and has now asked me (Rome) to remove Eryx as an Objective. They've offered metal (8BP) for removing Eryx (-5BP). I'd love to accept since it's early and I don't see conquering it anytime soon.(I'd also like to see where positive Diplomacy with Syracuse leads)...but Do I get hit with any hidden penalty now ?

No hidden penalty. You'll get another objective eventually.
