Coordinating Movement to Lift Siege

Hello,

I am trying to figure out how to coordinate the movement of these two armies so they can break the siege together. One is under siege in Carthage and the other is in an adjacent zone. No matter what I do, they fight separately when in reality they should coordinate and crush the rebels.
  • When I move the adjacent army and do nothing with the besieged army, the adjacent army fights alone (the besieged army sits in the city).
  • When I select "Exit" for the besieged army and also send the adjacent army into the region, the besieged army fights alone.
How do I get them to attack together? I feel like there needs to be a "hold 1 movement" option so I can coordinate movement here and in other situations.

Here is a picture of the situation:

Thanks in advance!

My feeling is, given that communications between two friendly armies in the ancient world had to be conducted by courier, there should be great difficulty in coordinating any attack between two armies ... especially one where one army is under siege and couriers would have to somehow sneak through enemy lines.

So realistically, the current situation is fine as is. IMO.

Hmm that is difficult. What are the possible outcomes:
  1. defender sorties without relief - exit order
  2. attacker attacks before relief - attack garrison
  3. attacker lifts siege & attacks relief, no support from garrison - that's what's currently happening
  4. relief & garrison attack attacker together - currently not possible
If the garrison is strong you do 1. If the attacker is - 2.

3 would only happen if the attacker knows of the relief force and the garrison doesn't. Or the attacker has to split his forces and leave enough men to hold the siege.

4 would happen if the attacker is unaware of the relief force (until its there). If you show up with your relief force at the besieged city then both the beleaguering force as well as the defenders will know that you are there. No need for messages. The noise when the fighting starts should be more than enough to cue a sortie from the defenders.

How to put this in rules? I suggest to use the generals stats.

Compare relief's attack vs attackers defence.
If relief wins its 4. Garrison forces get added to relief force.
If attackers win compare garrisons attack vs attackers defence.
If garrison wins deduct garrison forces from attacker for battle (forces need to hold back to keep siege going).
If attacker wins its a normal battle between relief and attacker.
