Replacing Commanders

If you swap out a commander, does the effect of their traits go away as well? Or does that linger for a turn.

I swapped out a pampered commander for a determined commander in an effort to make a quick getaway, but my units' movement speed remained 3 and they retained their -1 defence in hills. When the turn ends, would that change, or would the units move and fight with the pampered penalties rather than the bonuses from determined?

For those interested, I have confirmed the answer to this through testing.

Combat bonuses/penalties and movement bonuses/penalties from a new general take effect after turn submission. This means that my troops will look like they still have the pampered penalties described above, but on hitting end turn, they will actually lose their defensive and movement disadvantage in hills and will also gain the bonus from determined. This would change my movement speed from 3 to 5; a great way of catching an enemy off-guard if they are counting on you being slowed by the penalties of a particular general, and also, of course, a way to worm your way out of a tight spot resulting from a general's shortcomings.

I'm not sure if it's worth eating the experience hit to get rid of a -1 to defence though. It's probably better to have a flat +1 bonus than a +1 bonus to your minimum die roll on balance.
