I'm wondering...

I play P&S at the moment very close up (shift+3), when played in this mode, certain features are disabled such as nation flags and more importantly disruption level. Is it possible to adjust the game so that these are visible? I guess this question is for RBS, or one of the tech gurus who may have an answer. Is it any easy fix that you could walk me through? The game looks really lovely at this level. It is far more immersive than the regular view. As an aside, if you are creating a 18th Century version of this game using the same or similar engine, as an early request, could we have that game playable at this close up level with all the bells and whistles? Anyway, one can only dream. Thanks in advance for any and all insights.
Cheers
Alex

The shift+3 view is available in the engine, but is not recommended for use Pike and Shot the models are not designed to be looked at that closely. The absence of the icons in this mode is also engine-based. I suspect the mode was originally only ever intended for close-up screenshots in Battle Academy.

As no further work will be done on the STUB engine, because it has been replaced by the ARCHON engine, there is no way we can make the icons visible in that mode.

What about the mod of MAPVIEW.TXT as explained by @Adebar ? I guess it can provide a result near 'shift+3' but with all the features on (flags...).

Btw can't rotating the Middle Mouse Button (or the RMB like in FoG2) be modded to rotate the view ? I know I'm asking too much... :-) @Paul59 ?

I guess you know it, however one may mention that there are some nice 18th-century mods of FoGII :-)
