Army composition

I want to build an army.

I was working on 15mm Ikhanid Mongols as my third army for FoG, but lost them. I'm bored now of having nothing to paint, and I can't face doing the Mongols again just yet...the wound is too fresh.

So, I fancy having a go at something to suit Napoleonics. I understand I might not get on the beta, and don't wish to seem presumptions of gaining a place, but I would like to get started as son as possible on the modelling. I will be buying the rules the day they hit the shelves whether I'm on the beta or not!

I don't expect any official response at this early stage with regards army lists and so on, but, having only played ancients, I have no idea what goes on in the world of Napoleonics, so maybe someone can answer a couple of really fundamental questions for me.

What figure size is most common? I much refer 15mm in ancients, but will go with whatever the majority is in existing Napoleonic circles.

Are there a couple of rule sets I could look at to get a 'feel' for typical Napoleonics (I've downloaded Elan Deluxe so far because it's free, but I don't mind spending a few quid).

For FoG, it was possible to convert DBM armies with very few tweaks. Not just in terms of basing but in terms of army size and composition. Is there a rule set where the same relationship would hold for Napoleonics?

Basically, I want to start building an army for this rule set as soon as possible. Today would be good. I appreciate there is a very real need for lack of disclosure, but any hints, from the inner circle or just from long-timers, would be very much appreciated.

TIA

According to what have been said about the scale (unit size, no matter the number of bases in the unit), I think the rule will be most suitable for 15mm and smaller sizes.

Concerning building your army, I advice you to paint the miniatures without basing them yet. Mainly in order to see which base width will be the most suitable to play both Napoleonic FOG and some other rules.

I have troops based for King of the Battlefield, HOtH and WRG2nd.

If beta testing is near, what base sizes should be used for the testing?

Hi all
Generally most Napoleonics is in 15mm but with the release of new Plastic 28mm I expect a resurgence in this scale, in my opinion I would look to Napoleons battles as it is a good system for refighting really big historical battles and the basing is the same as a FOG choice the other choice would use figures based for WRG or Principles of War. In Australia there is a reworking of the old WRG rules done by some of the same people you did Elan available as a free download, this set is almost always played using 25mm figures and is used for the Australian championships (soon to be FOG I hope).

I hope this helps
cheers
