There is a bug in the Forum that makes duplicates in the posts

There are error messages when trying to post:

I have this as well. Submitting a second time is ok.

It was briefly down yesterday or so, these might be some kind of "aftershocks".

Still happening as of this morning. Best approach to dealing with it: If you see the messages shown by terminator, it actually indicates your post has been accepted. Instead of pressing the enter key or anything else, just refresh the screen. Look for your browser's refresh button, or press CTRL+R. Then you may see something like this:


Clicking the Resend button (this is Firefox) sends you here:


Don't press Submit again; that's where the double posting comes from. Instead, click the link to go back to the forum. You will see your first post has been accepted.

I wonder if a host/provider was down somewhere? This wasn't the only site that was going very slowly this morning

Still a bit slow but no problem with Matrix Games Forum (?)

We seem to go through this periodically with Slitherine forums: A period when posting becomes a trial and error exercise - error codes / blank screen / double posts - followed by epic, glacial slowness. Then suddenly it's back to normal but for how long is always the question. Sometimes it's for a long time; sometimes it's only for a short while. You would think that they could pin down and fix the problem permanently.

It's not just the forums multiplayer games are affected as well since last Thursday.

My, my. That's bad for business.

Most of our servers run through the same cluster. So if something glitches, then it tends to slow down everything... we obviously don't want this to happen and try to get it fixed asap, but it's not always within our direct control :/

Yes, thanks. Quite a relief. (You may appreciate my relief by witnessing how much stuff is in my current CSI Sweep thread and how long it took to post. )
