Currently, the "See only if your nation is directly involved" message log option hides event icons in your own realm when it's toggled off. The behavior seems to be identical to having the "See only if not involved" option toggled on, but the fact that that option exists makes it redundant, and it means that there is currently no option that allows you to see both events in your own realm and those in unrelated realms at the same time. It's annoying to have to switch the options every turn to get a full overview of events on the map.

That's noted in our todo list. I can assure you it will be prioritized for 1.06 though.
