Attack/Defence in Field of Glory II

It was probably well tested but I want to ask this question :)
When the battle is converted to FOG2 There is no side that is attacking and defending.
For example, Medium Infantry cannot make full use of bonuses in difficult terrain and often has to leave a good position, otherwise the time will run out and it will lose the slot machine.
And here I come to the second question. It is not possible to draw battles in FOG2 as it is in Empires.
it's a pity, because you can't use the tactics of the nomads, i.e. slow destruction of enemies with horse archers, you only need to win the battle or you'll lose and get extra losses in pursuit.
My guess is that it is purposeful that people do not bunker in difficult terrain and strive for quick resolution :(
