I am happy to let everyone know that there will be a FOG R competition at Godendag 2020. Details are set out below: -

15mm RENAISSANCE SINGLES COMPETITION
8th and 9th February 2020

Venue: Firestorm Games, Trade Street, Penarth Road
Cardiff, CF10 5DT (Tel: 02920 227117)

Rules: - Field of Glory Renaissance with all agreed amendments.

Points: - 820 points plus the value of their cheapest base cost i.e. if the cheapest points for a base are 5 points then the player can have up to 825 points in their army.

Theme – The Great Rebellion 1642–1651.

Armies from: - Early Caroline English, Scots Covenanter, Scots Royalist, Confederate Irish, Early ECW Royalist, ECW Parliamentarian, Later ECW Royalist, New Model Army.

List Checker and umpire – Ben Jones (ben@benedictjones.plus.com ). Lists to Ben by Saturday 25th January 2020
Time Table and other Information
Officially doors open on the Saturday and Sunday at 9am (but they may actually be open before that time)
It is possible to leave figures and terrain at Firestorm but obviously this is done at the owners risk. Free and plentiful parking is also outside Firestorm Games.

For those who did not come last year any spare cloths would be appreciated as some of the tables look a little Warhammer Spacepixie in hue.

Time Table for Games –
Registration time on Saturday 9:00am to 9:20am
Games will be:
Saturday: 1st Game 9.30 - 1.00 and 2nd Game 2.00 - 5.30
Sunday: 1st Game 9.00 - 12.30 and 2nd Game 1.30 - 5.00
Games will be taking 3 hours 20 mins plus a 1-10 min(s) variable calculated by the Umpire
When time is called, play will continue until the end of the current phase regardless of which player’s turn it is. Each player is responsible for completing their own score card. Once completed hand the score card to Bob Medcraft who will be organising the next round draw
Other Information: -
Players must supply their own terrain pieces. These must be to an acceptable standard, and the umpire will have the discretion to remove unsightly items.

Players must be present and ready to start the match at the appointed time. Where a player has a reasonable excuse for arriving late the match start will be delayed by up to 30 minutes. After which time the effected player will be awarded maximum points.
If a player resigns from a game at any stage after the first set up dice have been rolled their opponents will be awarded maximum points, and they will be awarded 0 points.

I am happy to supply anyone taking part with the updated Word Documents of the ECW lists.

David,

A group of us usually stay at Cardiff North Premier Inn. However, something must be going on in Cardiff that weekend as the cost of rooms are sky high (£150 for the Saturday night).

If Godendag had been two weeks earlier as in the past the cost of a room is only £36 for the Saturday night.

Just looked and it is not the rugby, as Wales are away to Ireland that weekend.

I was told about this and was going to go, but as I understand it, it clashes with BADCON which is also a 15mm FoGR event, and in my case (a newbie to FoGR) Burton is much closer.

Badcon is two weeks later so no reason not to go to both.

Bob, I'm not sure what happened when you tried but I've just booked 2 nights (Fri 7/2/20 & Sat 8/2/20) for £59.00 (£29.50 each) on the pay-up-front non-refund deal that we usually do. Perhaps they had a block booking that was cancelled? Ray

Just a small clarification on the points:

Points: - 820 points plus the value of their cheapest base cost i.e. if the cheapest points for a base are 5 points then the player can have up to 825 points in their army.

Does this mean the cheapest points in that army list or the cheapest points of bases actually used in a BG in that players chosen army?

As I am doing list checking, I will use the cheapest points of bases actually used.

So if you go Royalist raiding force and only buy Superior Armoured Cavaliers you get an extra 18pts, if you go Scots Royalist you get an extra 3 points (compulsory poor pikeman). I think they may be the two extremes.

Does this help.

I have checked and approved Ben's list so all other players can feel happy that he can not change his list after he has seen yours. So get your lists in to Ben went they are ready but no later than Saturday 25th January 2020 .

The battlefields website suggest that we have 9 players already booked for Godendag. It would be great if we can get more at least 1 but really another 3 or 5 would be fantastic. Help can me give with figures if that is your problem for not entering and do not worry if you are unsure of the rules as I do not know them either!!!!

I will take the first game bye if there are is an odd number of players and Don it will be great if you could make the Sunday if there is an odd number.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and looking forward to a successful wargaming New Year.

Is there anywhere I can see a list of entries for this event?

I have been advised by Firestorm Games that the following have booked tickets for Godendag.

No Players Name Club
1 David Burrows Oxford
2 Ben Jones Oxford
3 David Elks/Nigel Phillips Derby
4 Dene Green Burton
5 Ray Boyles Burton
6 Trevor Allen Burton
7 Clive Holland Derby
8 Bob Medcraft Oxford

David and Nigel are playing as a team but will split if we have an odd number.

Once Ben gets the list at the end of the month I will be able to set out the runners and riders.

As you now have even numbers I will stand down. I am in Bournemouth on the Saturday, so will not be coming on the Sunday.

Hoping to see you all at the Oxford one day comp in March.
