overlap and interpenetration

This question comes from the french forum and I could not answer

A LF unit is busy in a melee and has part of the unit fighting as overlap ( say one base is fighting as overlap ) .

Just behind, there is a friendly CV unit that wishes to move forward without shifting , so interpenatrating the LF and moving along the side of the ennemy unit without engaging it ( not going to overlap it ) , but just willing to go further .

The rules says there may be no interpenatration tduring a CHARGE . But nothing is said about moving trough a overlaping base ... or did I miss it in the rules ?

For me is out of question

I cannot find anything in the rules that forbids (but I'm not exhaustive). Anyway IMHO this cannot be made. Troops fighting cannot be interpenetrated, because they are not formed in normal way, point critical to permit interpenetration.

The interpenetration rules on p47 only bar interpenetration when charging. I don't see anything restricting movement through the overlapping base as long as it complies with the interpenetration rules.

Seems cheesy. Don't forget to take into account restricted areas.

There is no restricted area . as a restricted area is to the front of a unit . I do hope some of the conceptors will answer .

a base -width us (IS?) not a short distance - 40% of effective bow range
I think what Simon is trying to say is.

A single base width is actually a large distance on the ground. (40% of effective bow range*) So the interpenetration is not a problem.

*approx 80m (?). Depending on troop scale, wind direction, size of bow, size of archer, precpitation and humidity, bow design, user training, weight of arrow head, angle of shot, altitude of firer, armour of target and anything else that could make a difference
