new version 1.3.4 is incompatible with saves from 1.3.3

Hello,
maybe I'm missing something but usually when these new releases come out, I can't load my saves of games I've been playing right up to that point!
So that means I'm in the middle of the game and I get nuked from it permanently? And I must start a new game? The problem is these new cures are coming out too fast for my slow style. when is this going to stabilize?
Alternatively, is there I way to back off the update so I can finish the game I have? Just getting tired of losing a game mid-stride like this, happened twice now. Some games on steam I can roll back to a previous version but not seeing it for this game...

EDIT -- found the answer on the Steam Forums -- apparently the developer rolled back 1.3.4 for 24 hours yesterday, but my saves from yesterday are still under 1.3.4. They'll be available when the developer re-applies the new version, shortly, I assume!
I tried the suggested trick over there, of re-verification of the files, but that didn't roll back my saves to 1.3.3 as it said However, the rollback DID re-open some old saves that had been cut off before! I think that access will go away once 1.3.4 is reinstalled later today or whenever.
