Trading Question

I've read conflicting things about this, so thought I'd get people's input. I have two questions:

1. If I import a trade good to a region that doesn't need it, can that region then export that good to those that do? My understanding is no but I would like to confirm. I think trade can only go from one region to another region once, not multiple times.
2. If I have a trade good produced in my empire, do I export it once or can it export multiple times? E.g., if I have two provinces that need stone, and I have one that produces stone, does my 1 stone get exported twice to both regions or just to 1? My understanding is 1 region producing a good can only export to 1 needing, but I've seen people say otherwise on these forums.

Thanks!

1) No. Goods do not get re-traded.

2) Yes. Any goods source can supply any number of Needs (just look at you own exports region, and I'm sure you'll see an example of this by tooltipping over a good you are making a ton of Money from).

Dammnnn, nice. Thanks for confirming. I was building multiple of the same trade goods in different regions so I guess I can stop doing that now. Thanks for quick response.

So, theoretically, a region with super high trade acumen and trade range could export to a ton of internal and external regions and become super rich?

Yep, although Trade Range only affect the range you can import, it has no bearing on exports.

Oh right, good reminder.

1. As far as I can tell, the only way to import a trade good to a region is to build a building that needs it. If you do so, you cannot further export it from that (importing) region, though it is also available as a bonus good there and all the immediately surrounding regions.

2. If you produce a good you can export it multiple times; the only limitation is range, which depends on importer acumen. So if you produce stone, that will go to all regions (within range) that need it.

If you click on a province and bring up the trade details, it will give show a list of goods produced and imported. If you hover the mouse over a produced good it will show a list of all territories it exports to.

Good topic. I would like to add a question to be sure I understand it:

If I increase the trade range, I increase only my range to import, not my chance to make money by exporting products.

If I increase my acumen, I increase my chance that another city imports my good and I make money - but my trade range does not matter. Just the range of the importing city.

Is thought until now that also my range is important to sell goods, but seems to be wrong...

It would be handy to have a map filter where you could nominate a trade good and see where it was available.

I think that's right.

Well, the Trade Goods Overlay sort of does that, in that it shows all the produced goods throughout the map. Furthermore, in the Ledger there is a button for "Regions (Trade Gds)" which will provide a list of all regions where a good is available, depending on how you filter it.

IMO what would be useful is a map overlay that would show the results of the Ledger filtered region list. It's quite a challenge to work out optimal imports to supply bonuses, though I suppose that's one of the skills we have to master.

EU4 has a map mode where it shows what FoGE does but then if you click on a region with a good it highlights all the others with that good.

True, it's useful there. However the FoGE trade system is quite a bit more complex than EU4, so we could do with some more useful tools to help manage it.

A SQL command line with on-map output should do it! :D

The basic trade goods display is ok, and I use it a lot, but it doesn’t show that the good will be available for bonuses in adjacent regions, or the difference between being available (through production, hence tradeable) or available through import
